Where is our party politics?

Day 1,928, 13:21 Published in India India by Zere

Needless to say that eIndia really don’t have any a political party activity. We have five parties and I have not seen any specific goals, written platforms or ideology how country should be management. The members of parties do not even share common views. They join parties which offer them opportunities to run a congress and maybe a country president. Is our party politics really that dead?

That's me when I made my comeback in the last weekend and saw that eIndia have same problems when I left this game about 2 years ago.

Why I see this non-party politics as a problem? Well when we have organized parties which have goals and written platforms it easier to influence the government policy. Among have power to changes things up than by yourself! Also I see active parties are like little communities which keep you in game. You make friends and contacts. In my experience a political parties are usually first real touch for most newbies who are interested about politics in this game. How many potential new player we have lost in the past because our parties aren’t any active and members don’t share same political views?

Real change happened in movements, and here in eRepublik are parties for that which are kept hold by party community. Back my eLife in eFinland 2009-2011 I was really active in Finnish far-left parties. We had great community and ideas how to run eFinland, we had a great run and it was really funny enjoyable times. If I would not have been active party member I think I would have ended my eLife pretty soon. So I have seen parties’ potential in game as a tool whiche grows activity and also potential make a real changes in the goverment. I hope my few advices would boost some political party movement in eIndia if not I will show example for running in a party president in some of the five party what we have.

What is political party?

Wikipedia says: ” A political party (from Latin: pars, Genitive partis, "part", "portion") is a political organization that typically seeks to influence government policy, usually by nominating candidates with aligned political views and trying to seat them in political office. Parties participate in electoral campaigns and educational outreach or protest actions. Parties often espouse an expressed ideology or vision bolstered by a written platform with specific goals, forming a coalition among disparate interests.”

So number one isn’t surprise.

1) Influence your government policy

Make a written platform, goals (how society should be organized), methods (how to appropriate way to achieve goals) and choose ideology what your political party follows. These things should gather people who are same-minded. When you can organized your party then there is really potential to influence your government policy.

2) Keep your members active

Like I said before your party should have a purpose but also something which keep members coming back in the game. This can be active forums, IRC, militias, projects or anything what gives people something to do even like a video game, hosting tournaments, playing chess but do SOMETHING. A party which doesn’t have a community is a dead party; it’s only a matter when a party is dead in technically way in the game.

Also I think smaller comminutes provide more active players. I remember my first steps on the forum and IRC. I was an afraid open to my mouth in big crowds but when there is smaller group like a political party has, it is easier to open your mouth. And soon you don’t have this problem and you are ready to step in the eNational forums and IRCs to tell your thoughts. And once again we have one new active player in community and that was me back then.

3) Run quality candidates, and get the best ones elected

Congress is really important! It decides about political, military and economic future of a country by proposing different kinds laws. So of course party president will put those members in top of party congress election list because he want best men and political same-minded in congress which will help party to influence government policy. Moreover Congress often serves as a stepping stone in high profile post. So it is important that parties can send new promising players in congress.

Well about president elections…I think you get the point.

4) Reach out new players

Like I said in begin of this article a party is the easiest and maybe the safest way for new players to get involved in politics. Every party should have some kind mentor who is ready help new players in his party. When new players come active in a political party, especially in a party community, a party might have a new party-prospect in their rows!

Inclusion eIndia’s parties should organize themselves and build a good community on their communication channels. Make platforms, goals and etc. When parties are active we get more active players in community and soon we can get chance to really change our eNation. I never want to see eIndia parties making the same mistakes again and again, so please take a moment and read these words of wisdom.

But remember Rome was not built in a day, it need time and work!
