Where's Tayto (Part 1) - Cork City Gaol

Day 2,364, 17:15 Published in Ireland Ireland by Mr. Tayto

I've decided to do a brief tour of eIreland. Where better to start than the spiritual capital of Ireland... Cork... or as the locals call it "Kark".

Sporting Achievments:
Cork are Stick-Swinging legends having won the All Ireland Stick-Swinging Title 30 times.

The country's most famous soccer player hailed from Cork. His antics at the 2002 World Cup split the country in two. Those who were right, and those who thought he was wrong.

One of the most popular sports in Cork is throwing stones at cars. There's even a national title which is usually won by someone from Cork.

Linguistic Fact:
The locals may resort to confusing your name with that of the winner of the 1993 US Masters Golf Championship. Presumably because you too are a winner.

Corkonians seem to "Like" alot of things. So much so that it is the Law of the land to end each sentence with the word "Like", the only exception is by replacing the word with "Boy".

The Anthems:
How oft do my thoughts in their fancy take flight...
A song about a river named after Bruce Lee.

Down in Cork he'd be known as a...
In honour of the great German golfer mentioned above.

Oh will you meet me on Saturday night?
My own personal favourite Cork song.

Landmark to See:
Lots to see in Kark, but one of the the best landmarks has to be Cork City Gaol, where I spent some time after being arrested for being involved in a street brawl with my arch nemesis Mr. Walker.

See if you can find me in Gaol:

Join me next week, when I jet off to Shannon!
