When the Going Gets Tough... Look Down
Churchill93
Of course, by down I mean South.
President Harry Truman once remarked, "Canadian-American relations for many years did not develop spontaneously. The example of accord provided by our two countries did not come about merely through the happy circumstance of geography. It is compounded of one part proximity and nine parts good will and common sense."
It's time to return to the good will and common sense of old.
As President John F. Kennedy put it, "Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners. And necessity has made us allies. Those whom nature hath so joined together, let no man put asunder. What unites us is far greater than what divides us."
In our time of need, it is necessary to remember that what has united our two countries in the past, is much more important than what has divided us of late.
Canada is facing hard times because of poor leadership. Bad decisions were made that created a divide with the US. These poor decisions were added to when Spain was provoked to invade. And these bad decisions were amplified by our President (EDIT: at the time) insulting the Spaniards enough that we have become target # 1.
We need strong leadership now more than ever. We must repair and renew our alliance with the Americans. This should be priority number one for our President. Our very survival is at stake.
If we do not wish to take the same path of surrender and appeasement as Portugal, we need America.
In the coming days and weeks, we will see whether or not our Alliance choice of Asgard can help us get a Congress. Regardless, for our future to be sustained, we need the United States.

The United States and Canada have a long history in eRepublik of good relations, only in the past 9 months or so has it been bad. It would be nice to see a day when we were back on good terms
I'm fairly sure Bromerica is the one who distanced itself from us.
There is always the possibility, however remote, that eUS will join Asgard.
The set of circumstances presented today would suggest that to be highly unlikely.
If you have ever seriously looked at the eRep map and planned out a battle front, you will know that you can't look too far into the future because RW and other battle fronts change the borders that are available to you. The circumstances surrounding eUS, and Asgard for the matter, will change in the future, and our position will strengthen.
The key is for eCan to be mindful of this and position itself to grow stronger through relationships, not weaker, and be ready to take advantage when it comes to pass.
Can we act on this and try to contact them?

Atleast we're #1 target!
