What the SP stands for

Day 796, 11:15 Published in Austria USA by stancel

Tomorrow you will be going to the polls. There will be five parties available for you to vote for. The National Front Austria, the Austrian Independence Party, the Kronloyale Union (which until recently called itself Rot Weiss Rot), Illuminus Austria, and the Socialist Party.

It's necessary for me to clear up some things about the SP and what we believe in.

-An Austrian Republic-

We believe that Austria should stay a republic. There are a couple parties that declare themselves to be monarchist. One wants to force a monarch from above, the other wants an "elected" one (elected by Congress, I suppose), but the fact of the matter is, people wouldn't be able to change this. A monarch adds nothing to our experience here except to boost someone's ego and perhaps open the door to corrupt ways of making that person wealthier. We don't need a person to rally around, we have a country for that.

-Strength-
Austria should be strong. We need more MPPs, we need more diplomacy, we need more hospitals, more defense systems, we need to do more, simple as that. Is it really about having a baby boom? Or is it about increasing player activity? Look at our national forums. The active people don't even post there.

-Socialism-
Austria is a democracy, not a dictatorship. And so the input of the people (through consensus) is important. Some people want to play petty politics and bash the socialists. As if we somehow had a controversial name. What socialism means in eRepublik is a better economy, with more consideration for the worker than the profits made by a few. It means people are not bullied, that there is more respect. Think about it as the social connections between individuals, between people in Austria, even between people all over the world.

-A new path in international affairs-
I know I'm not the only one tired of the stagnation, both domestically and internationally. Austria needs to be put on the map. We need to participate in many ways toward putting Austria forward as a partner in international affairs. This doesn't mean that we invade lots of countries, or that we become a servant toward huge empires. It means we continue what we have been doing but in a stronger way, an Austria independent of imperialism which makes it notable. The refusal to join the Entente, which was approved by a majority of the Congress, underscores the lack of action taken by the government in this arena.

-Humility-
We're not going to act elitist to you, or disrespect you for your new ideas. The fact is that several parties try to use only patriotism or nationalism in order to get your vote. But our party is about the real issues.
