What makes someone a good leader in this eworld?

“A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be.” Rosalynn Carter

Though the qualities that makes a good leader is the same in real life and in virtual world, the skills required varies. Still, the effect, aura, impact and drive that a leader manages to exert on those who come in touch with him is the same. My wish list for a good leader's attributes would be:

Visibility: The leader must be highly visible in the eworld. He must be active in media, forums and other communication media. In the context of eIndia, every leader has the same goal, eIndia’s ultimate glory. It is the work culture and motivational capabilities that set people apart in virtual world’s polity.

Consistency: : A good leader must be consistent in the activities that he does for the community. The activities and programs that the leader initiates must be followed up and acted upon consistently. This does not mean he should necessarily keep his views and ideas anchored. Rather he should have a flexible and open mind on crucial issues, easily adaptable to a dynamic eWorld.

Confidence: The most important quality for a good leader is confidence. He must be confident about himself and more importantly must have faith in his team. In a game that essentially throws up new faces every day, the leader must not feel threatened or intimidated by the same. He must also be able to own up any mistakes and rectify the same for the good of the community, rather than being stubborn and egoistic.

Warm and friendly attitude: A good leader must project a friendly and welcoming image of him. People must feel free to approach him at any time.

Writing Skills: Crucial for eWorld, as what you read is what you get.

Responsive: Those leaders who respond to every messages or posts coming their way, in spite of the RL commitments are the ones worthy of being called GREAT. Response is a must even if it comes a little late, better late than never.

Above all, a true leader must support and nurture new and promising citizens. He must also ideally create systems and mechanisms that would survive and serve the community long after he ceases to be on the center stage.

I have been fortunate enough to have been in touch with many inspiring and selfless leaders. eIndia boasts of a galaxy of highly committed citizens and I seek to be of help to the nation in whichever way possible.

Now you know what skills are needed to be MY LEADER 🙂...
Let me finish off this entry to the WGI membership on a lighter note..

Note: Usually, I message the link of all my articles to my first reader and subscriber, a great friend and a true leader who embodies all the qualities one could ever wish for, maverick10. Missing him sorely...
