What have we come to?

America is now a crumbling democracy

It's been a while since I was last active in erepublik due to everything in-game falling apart and my real life becoming super busy. Unfortunately things seem to have become much worse for my fellow Americans since I last played. The game is more stagnant and the United States doesn't even control a region as a write this article. No one seems to care much and the country is at a standstill.

My parody flags of the two factions

When I left the game the United States was engaged in a political war with Ronald Gipper Reagan (aka Ajay Bruno with other various names)and his foreign friends. This has always been an issue since I began playing long ago but the democratic process has typically continued on in a fairly normal fashion. Now it appears that the four major parties have combined into forming "Unity" against Reagan's American Freedom Alliance.

Granted I realize that the admins greatly increased the power of party presidents which completely altered the way in which congressional elections are conducted. It's just sad to me that politics has completely devolved into an us versus them mentality. I guess it might be the only way for us to survive but it makes me wonder. How much worse can we get? Our country has been wiped and our government is in ruins.

I haven't been around for a while but can't we at least try to open up the political process? Yes the game is dying but without any political competition how can we expect to develop new players and keep politically minded citizens interested? Yes active citizens can get involved in the executive branch but the political competition and diversity spices up the game and makes it fun.

I would encourage everyone to try and become active in our federal government. Its the only way we can create new leaders and rebuild our country. I would also ask that party leaders (or whoever decides our Unity CP candidate) attempt to make the process more transparent and open to the every day American. Of course I've always been an idealist when it comes to eUS politics.
