I've developed a small mental health issue while playing this game. Let's call it "the Kravenn complex". I have developed a compulsive need to get into congress month after month in an un-breaking chain. While, when I miss out, I don't go cray-cray and pretend to be on "e-vacations", I do feel a wee bit odd and out of place. I feel like I have no purpose. I get insanely bored, and nowadays there's no Horice articles (god bless his soul) for me to laugh at to cure the problem.
I don't know why I want the medal all the time so bad, when I'm there I decide I dislike most of them, think they're all useless and go mad anyway. But the bickering PMs coming in every day were mildly comforting, you'd find out plans, discuss ideas, shout at Dapper, and give the go ahead to waste money on pointless MPPs.
What I've noticed, now that I'm not in the PMs, is the public knows feck all about what's being talked about, unless some guy thinks something's very wrong within congress. We don't really hear about what's going on the rest of the time, I bet right now it's them all arguing about methods of communication again, communicating about communicating, using a method of communication...
I was planning to reach a point eventually....
The point of this article, then, is I want to see what the hell congress goes on about. An informed populace
Plenty of ways of doing it...
1. Leaked PMs, the more hilarious and degrading to the congressman the better. Bonus points for taking statements completely out of context.
2. Articles presenting to the public ideas that have been discussed in congress, like what jamesw did with that tax hike (that bloody new congress undone without even checking how many more dick-tickling MPPs we could afford)
3. Rant articles explaining how crap congress is, they're always fun to read.
But I'd like an informed public, instead of just us running around like "Oh look we're at war with Norway now, wot" and "Why are we NE'ing that lot" and "What's that impeachment proposal all about?" and of course "Wonder if congress are still going on about forums vs PMs instead of doing any sort of work to help better the country". Not knowing is frustrating, especially when suffering from the Kravenn complex. I'll have a mental breakdown.

That's essentially the gist of it.
How many terms has that argument been running now? It was around during my first congress term I think, and I've got 7 medals now.

Frankly there should be regular articles from the Speaker keeping the eUK informed. Huey does an awesome job with his articles, but he's not obliged to do those, and he mostly covers proposals which have already passed ages ago.
Regular articles from anybody would be lovely.
Huey does a decent job, but I need more in depth stuff, maybe some bias and preferably personal attacks too, more entertainment value than a Huey article.
Damn I need to get into congress soon.
Rob, this is a good article...it's something all members of Congress need to consider more. I'd certainly like to see more articles presenting to the public ideas that have been discussed in congress.

I often think my 'A view from Parliament' could be more forward looking...it would make them more useful for our constituents...I will give it some consideration see what I can come up with. Not sure about the personal attacks ha and I'm already fairly bias at times in my own way ha.
I certainly think someone could do it 'better' than me too \o/
The Speaker doesn't exist except a a fantasy for the role players.
Leaks from individual congress members are so much better
Needs to have a lot more public consultation on community policy in general 😛

Oh man, if only we had an open discussion platform where congress could debate matters in the public view, but also retreat to discuss sensitive issues? Somebody should make one of those and add the congress members to the access list every month, that'd be quite handy

At the moment there appears to be a lot of "who's got the biggest dick" competition over whether to use forums or not.

Don't worry, I used to start jonesing when I wasn't in Congress, too. It gets easier with time. 😉 However, I have to agree, more communication with the public would be really nice. How do we know who to support if we have no idea what is going on?
Hers is a leak, Hotfuz was voted speaker a few days ago, many people said his not active enough and was proved right.
