Weekly Power Rankings #25; Wait, The World Hasn't Ended?

Day 1,860, 08:12 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

Welcome to another edition of the eRepublik Power Rankings! Here are the rules; the efforts of the top five countries this week will be recognized, and the five worst performances will be mocked, no exceptions! Countries are recognized for many things, including successful defending, securing strong alliances, and, of course, conquering rivals. Without further ado, let's begin!

WINNERS

1 (2) Chile

Three weeks later and Chile still has Australia in the palm of its hand, allowing only Northern Territory to be controlled by the Aussies in a mutual agreement. If that wasn’t impressive enough, the Chileans have launched a joint attack on their beloved friend Argentina with allies Paraguay and all their CoT brethren in force. And they’re winning, surprisingly enough. Taking down OPM Uruguay in 17 seconds flat and cruising into Argentina with speed and precision, their only regret is not keeping Paraguay on the map. However, with Argentina on its last rung and another CoT victory apparently at hand, it’s a small misgiving that Chile has more than made up for.

Week rating: 9.6/10

2 (NR) Macedonia

What better way to spend the holidays than by controlling half of your most hated enemy’s lands? With Christmas approaching, the Macedonians took it upon themselves to invite themselves to Greece’s home. And take over their lands for a Christmas present. Macedonia finished re-establishing its new Greek lands, including the region of Macedonia, ironically. Any successful revolts by the Greeks (notably one in Central Greece) have been quickly put down by mostly Macedonian forces, even resulting in Macedonian control of regions previously controlled by their allies, such as the Aegean Islands, formerly a Bulgarian-controlled province. Tacking that onto their extra regions from Albania, the Macedonians are looking like a mean green machine. (too much?)

Week rating: 9.1/10

3 (NR) Bulgaria

Bulgaria hasn’t had the sort of success against Greece itself, but has caused havoc in the colonies that’s fractured what remains of the Greek empire. With mainland Greece primarily under Macedonian control, the Bulgarians have taken charge of conquering the other parts of the Greek nation. As Turkey scrambles to protect Greece and themselves from Bulgarian imperialism, Egypt has been split in half as a result of the invasion, with Bulgaria controlling the eastern regions and Egypt themselves controlling the western half. Bulgaria is now set to take on the Turks for the Saudi lands long ceded to Greece. They now have a chance to wipe the long-standing Greek empire.

Week rating: 8.5/10

4 (NR) Indonesia

With all the drama in the Balkans attracting attention from all players worldwide, the Indos have steadily been doing their thing, taking on (former) Balkan power Croatia and beating them off of the Malaysian regions they had control over. With Malaysia cleaned of Croatian influence, Indonesia has landed on the southern tip of India, jointly controlled by the Indians and Croatians. Despite fierce resistance, Indonesia has made strong progress against their Croatian enemies, taking Tamil Nadu and eliminating Croatia from anywhere else but India. While India’s RWs have been a thorn in the Indos’ side, they are still in prime position to possibly eliminating Croatia from the map.

Week rating: 8.2/10

5 (1) Serbia

With southern Italy safely under Serbian control, Serbia decided to claim some more territory, and did so swiftly and with little resistance (any meaningful resistance, at least), taking over all four remaining French regions with the lift of a finger. After securing their border with America, Serbia started an invasion of Israel, successfully taking their first gain in that war as well. Serbia now not only controls Croatian, Bosnian, and Italian lands, but chunks of Montenegro, the remains of France, some ports of Greece, and a foothold into Israel. Talk about an empire...

Week rating: 7.7/10

Honorable Mentions: Poland, Iran

LOSERS

Just barely good enough: Colombia, Ukraine

B5 (NR) Turkey

While protecting Greece is indeed a noble thing to do, it's unfortunately placed Turkey right in the line of fire. With Greece losing province after province both to revolts and foreign invaders, Turkey took it upon themselves to take some of the inflicted regions themselves to protect them from Bulgaria and other enemies. Good, right? Well, as a result, Turkey has ceded back all of their Iranian regions, and they've struggled to beat Bulgaria in the main battles; while they've held onto their own regions well, they've lost a few battles in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. While it's certainly no calamity, before protecting others, Turkey must keep itself alive.

Week rating: 3.9/10

B4 (NR) France

France has just become a rag doll, tossed around by the superpowers of the world. After getting thrashed around a little by Poland and miraculously being given their lands back, they stumbled up to Serbia, and the Serbs were not as generous. No amount of holiday spirit saved the French from yet another wipe, as the Serbs waltzed in and captured the last bastion of French resistance with little effort. With all their lands controlled by two superpowers with damage overflowing to the brim and a strained relationship with their oppressors, it's hard to see France liberated any time soon.

Week rating: 3.4/10

B3 (NR) Croatia

Croatia has long been evicted from their Balkan home, but their plan appeared to have some potential. Plan A: revolt a region back in the Balkans and fight Serbia for the rest, causing total upheaval in the region. The backup plan, Plan B? Hold onto their Indian and Malaysian regions and protect India from Indonesia's wrath. Unfortunately, both plans didn't pan out. Serbia had a few scares but ultimately let not a single Croatian RW succeed. Indonesia worked with Malaysia to knock the Croats out of SE Asia and have begun to push Croatia back north. Croatia can still pull off either/both plans, but they must hurry before they lose all their regions.

Week rating: 3.1/10

B2 (B3) Taiwan (ROC)

It's really just not Taiwan's month, is it? They once had a thriving nation with lands stretching from the entirety of Japan to all but one region of South Korea, as well as the crown jewel: the island of Taiwan itself and its four regions. Those times have long passed for the Taiwanese, however, as America and Brazil have ruined their day. While Brazil has since retreated from the battlefield, America still controls half of Taiwan, and Spain looks menacing from the south. Certainly, Taiwan's colonies are ruined as well, with Japan surrounding the remaining Taiwanese colonies and South Korean regions popping up in a few too many places. Taiwan should be scared for its life right about now.

Week rating: 2.8/10

B1 (NR) Argentina

Ahh, Argentina. Back in the day when Chile was a younger nation and the battle system was still only one division (I guess it's not really a division then huh?), Argentina had little trouble beating their western neighbors when their relations soured. With the power of the younguns increased and the soldiers matured, however, Chile is proving a very formidable foe against the Argentinians, taking province after province despite Argentina's greatest efforts to turn the tide of the war. Minor power Paraguay's interference doesn't help the Argentinians one bit either, causing enough of a distraction to make Argentina lose the main fights. Chile might finish what Bulgaria started, and actually wipe Argentina.
