Day 1,799, 07:05 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

Welcome to another edition of the eRepublik Power Rankings! Here are the rules; the efforts of the top five countries this week will be recognized, and the five worst performances will be mocked, no exceptions! Countries are recognized for many things, including successful defending, securing strong alliances, and, of course, conquering rivals. Without further ado, let's begin!

WINNERS

1 (B1) Macedonia (FYROM)

From worst to first, Macedonia has sacrificed its French lands, but as a result has crippled EDEN's influence in the Balkans and Italy. By capturing Italian Apulia, Macedonia has cut off Greece from advancing north up the boot and possibly threatening Serbia. Adding to its recapturing of Albania, Macedonia has restored its chokehold over Italy, once again branching from its core regions in the Balkans through Tirana to Tuscany, only losing the northwestern Italian regions to ally Slovenia. On top of avoiding America, Macedonia has expanded and secured its captured lands. Things look good. For now.

Week rating: 9.4/10

2 (NR) Indonesia

Indonesia has been the target of many attacks as of late, but every time, they have recovered and fought off their opponents. Facing two formidable foes in Croatia and Romania, Indonesia indeed was defeated at the hands of its EDEN enemies. But the resiliency of the Indos was displayed once again, as hard-fought victories and cunning strategy led to the full success of the Indonesian armies, defeating their Romanian oppressors, releasing all their provinces, and beginning a threat on Croatia as well. Indonesia is nearing its triumphant return as master of Oceania, and many are less than thrilled about it.

Week rating: 9.2/10

3 (2) China

China hasn't fought often, but when it does, it's usually quite a spectacle. After Serbia threatened to take down the Middle Kingdom, the Chinese struck back, building up a wall in Pakistan and chasing the Serbs out of Iran. The trouble wasn't over yet, as Iran was perceived as a traitor to the EDEN community, and China had all it could handle to hold down Iranian forces that were fighting to break loose. At the end of the day, though, China is now fully set to hold down the fort in Asia, and has also put its foot in the door into Europe. The Chinese are more formidable than ever.

Week rating: 8.8/10

4 (L2) Hungary

To be fair, Belarus isn't at the same power level as Hungary. But take what you can get, right? Hungary teamed up with Lithuania and finished the job, wiping Belarus. Although Belarus has since reappeared on the map, it was quite an impressive showing by the Huns. A far more menacing threat has since arisen as of late, as Americans furious with Poland's rejection of their ultimatum have attacked Austria and have positioned themselves at the Hungarian border. Knowing the green fighting machine, though, Hungary just might pull out of the battle early. And if somehow Hungary won? ...

Week rating: 8.3/10

5 (NR) Spain

The battle against Colombia continues! After a long, turbulent war, it appears that Spain and its allies may finally have gained the edge over the Colombians, pushing them down to one lone region. Despite overwhelming EDEN support for the opposition, with some good strategy (no touchy Pacifica) and clutch fighting down the stretch (winning RWs 83-82 hax), Spain has nearly finished what should have been done a long time ago. If Spain can secure the region, they'll have solidified a fallback plan for Brazil (no backstabbing, Argentina), captured some vital regions, as well as suppressing a worthy foe! What more could you ask for?

Week rating: 7.6/10

Honorable Mentions: USA, Estonia

LOSERS

Just barely good enough: Albania, Greece

B5 (B4) Colombia

Colombia did all it could, but it wasn't enough, as the Spanish assault continued, with both the Spaniards and Mexicans invading the South American nation. Despite great strides by EDEN to save the nation, it looks more and more unlikely, with only one province left for the Colombian people. With the Philippines recovering their lands from their Taiwanese allies, there's no one to attack Mexico and save the Colombians this time. Defeat seems inevitable for the small nation. Still, props for surviving this far. But there's little hope for the scrappy Colombians.

Week rating: 3.8/10

B4 (3) Belarus

This time, mighty Germark could do nothing to save Belarus from a miserable wipe, much less their Swedish allies. As a result, the Lithuanians and Hungarians fully occupied the nation, wiping Belarus from the map. Although admittingly Belarus has reappeared onto the map since its defeat, it has shown little capability to hold onto their breath of freedom for long, already under fire against the Lithuanians and looking very weak. Hungary will be distracted by America, so they find breaking out a little easier, but they'll need lots of help to escape the talons of Hungary and Lithuania.

Week rating: 3.5/10

B3 (NR) Romania

The downside of putting all the eggs in one basket is that when a bully comes along and snatches the basket, there's nothing left. Romania took a bold risk, pulling a Hungary and invading a foreign country, attempting to choke the life out of the Indos. And for a while it worked, as Romania had a nice, if somewhat unstable, base. But the Indos attacked to recapture their lands, and Chile invaded at the same time to double the threat. And it wasn't even close. Romania sacrificed their base in the Balkans for a failed base in Oceania. It'll be tough to retake the keys to their two-room apartment now.

Week rating: 2.4/10

B2 (NR) Austria

The worst thing that can happen is to be invaded and wiped despite no fault of your own. This briefly happened to the Austrians (they received two lands back from Slovakia), as they were invaded by the Americans simply so they could get a border with Hungary. And as the Americans are known for both their military strength and their tenacity, it's unlikely that Austria could simply ask nicely for their lands back, or take them by force. Their first real conflict in some time (TWing Switzerland doesn't count) was so overwhelming that they didn't even bother with the NE. Austria is desperately counting on Hungary to break them free.

Week rating: 1.9/10

B1 (NR) Iran

Normally, allies don't hang each other out to dry. Iran learned this the hard way, getting invaded by Turkey and being refused their lands back by China. Apparently, their peace agreement didn't sit well with EDEN, and the Iranians were punished harshly on two fronts. Had it not been for their clever thinking in shielding themselves with the United Arab Emirates, Iran may have been totally wiped. Still, their complete loss of respect in the EDEN community they had been slowly weaving their way into has to hurt. Iran is now at am impasse, with both leaving EDEN-friendly territory and returning there looking difficult.
