Day 1,762, 04:12 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

Welcome to another edition of the eRepublik Power Rankings! Here are the rules; the efforts of the top five countries this week will be recognized, and the five worst performances will be mocked, no exceptions! Countries are recognized for many things, including successful defending, securing strong alliances, and, of course, conquering rivals. Without further ado, let's begin!

WINNERS

1 (1) Croatia

Croatia has enjoyed the top spot for a ridiculously long time, but there's really no reason for them not to hold the gold. This time, their Southeast Asian headquarters were under attack by both Thailand and Indonesia, and it looked at first as if they would fold under the two-front assault. Instead, Croatia not only defended against the initial attack, but has since counterattacked into Indonesia, taking Sumatra and Java. Its only loss being in Sumatra due to a lengthy revolt, Croatia is also getting backup from Romania, ceding one of its Malaysian provinces to make room. Croatia looks unstoppable...for now.

Week rating: 9.5/10

2 (B4) Sweden

Sweden has earned major bro points, and has backed it up with a mighty campaign to destroy ABC holdings. Although the Swedes took a hit for the team earlier in the war, after Germark arrived with reinforcements Sweden could finally fight on a level playing field. And they absolutely slaughtered their Latvian and Lithuanian foes. They not only kicked the two off Swedish turf, but Sweden conquered nearly all of Latvia, with the Latvia's last province looking vulnerable. Now that Sweden has an opportunity to support Finland in their war, it may prove to be the spark for the final victory in the Baltic epic war.

Week rating: 8.9/10

3 (5) Belarus

Belarus' reformation is complete! Not satisfied with the long wait for their saviors to arrive, Belarus took it upon themselves to get on the war path themselves. Attacking Latvia while RWing Lithuania, Belarus succeeded in wiping the nation, though they released the provinces to allow Sweden to invade. As such, Belarus is now safe from all enemy attacks, and can look forward to either taking Lithuania for themselves or perhaps attacking Poland if they're in the mood. Either way, the might of the Asgard alliance in protecting their ally Belarus has been very beneficial, to say the least. inb4joinasgard

Week rating: 8.3/10

4 (NR) Poland

A cakewalk, is it not? And last I checked, walking with a slice of cake is ridiculously easy. Perhaps France is an easy opponent, but the absolute outclassing that the Poles showed is something to be recognized and respected. France failed to fully prepare for a war with the Polish forces, and it showed, as Poland has all but wiped the French 'backstabbers'. The only failure in Poland's plan was to gain a border with Spain, which Macedonia denied for currently unknown reasons. If Poland sorts out the ordeal, it'll be in prime shape to build upon its already vast empire.

Week rating: 7.5/10

5 (4) Germark

A bittersweet ending to a glorious victory. Germark got its first action with direct coordination with Sweden, and looked good. Lithuania was the unfortunate nation to border the Germans and Danes, and got absolutely slaughtered. Germark invaded province after province, eventually taking over the entire country, as Belarus gave them hell from the south. Although eventually Scania fell back into Swedish hands and rendered the Lithuanian provinces worthless, Germark showed that despite their shrunken stature, they're still a powerful nation, and a loyal ally to boot.

Week rating: 6.9/10

Honorable Mentions: Colombia, Ireland

LOSERS

Just barely good enough: Indonesia, Iran

B5 (NR) Portugal

Portugal attacked Spain. They looked good for the first few battles. But after Spain finished up with France, they refocused attention on Portugal, and the battle was over right then and there. Although Portugal had managed to take back Alentejo as well as Extremadura, after Spain started to focus their soldiers to the Portuguese front it was a quick wipe. Now, Portugal is once again under Spanish control, and will need outside help to get them free. Perhaps Colombia and Canada can give some much-needed help, but for now Portugal is playing the waiting game.

Week rating: 3.7/10

B4 (B1) Australia

Australia has been cursed with a poor geographical position. They're naturally wedged between New Zealand and Indonesia, two respectably strong nations. And thanks to some scheming on New Zealand's part, Chile finished its invasion of Australia, much to the Aussies' dismay. Subsequent battles to free the fallen capital in Victoria have been close but heartbreaking losses. However, with Croatia and Romania attacking Indonesia, it may bring a ray of hope to the Aussies' chances of revival. For now, though, Australia is stuck under a white mask.

Week rating: 3.4/10

B3 (NR) Lithuania

Lithuania was attacking Sweden, and looked like an unstoppable force. Perhaps they had Latvian allies helping out on another front, but Lithuania in its own right seemed to be coordinated, making intelligent attacks and precise funding. But after a mental blunder in which Lithuania gave Germark a border with them, things all went downhill for the Lithuanians, who saw themselves not only lose their gains with Sweden but completely wiped as well. Had it not been for an extreme push to knock the Germarkians out of Scania, Lithuania would still be under full occupation. And they're not out of the woods yet.

Week rating: 2.4/10

B2 (L2) Latvia

Similar to their blood brother Lithuania, Latvia looked really good. They had northern Sweden under control, Belarus at their mercy, and no worries. But once Lithuania had Germark attack, Belarus coordinated a revolt, and succeeded. And things went downhill from there. Suddenly unburdened by Lithuania, Sweden was able to focus on clearing out invaders, clearing out the north held by Latvia. And Belarus has had fun beating up the Latvians, while Latvia has enjoyed it much less. Even after Belarus started releasing the wiped Latvia, Sweden started taking the provinces back. Not a good campaign, eh?

Week rating: 2.3/10

B1 (NR) France

When your highlight of the week is the fact that you got Macedonia to conquer the south, you know it's bad. And sadly for France, it was just that type of week. France had a slight advantage in the first fight, but still lost, and the rest is history. Poland started eating France chunk by chunk, while Spain attempted to capture Midi-Pyrenees. France is down to a lone province, and perhaps the only bright spot is that the enemy's battle plan did not work out as expected. A sprinkle of in-fighting is the only way for these so-called traitors to break free once again, because Poland won't give them lands back on a silver platter a second time.
