We Must Take the Current When It Serves

Day 1,981, 07:08 Published in USA USA by Azazel Romanov

Summer is coming.

And with summer, it looks like things are getting more interesting internationally. First up we have the Serbian-Romanian MPP. The two countries have been becoming closer and closer despite being their alliances being at each others' throats. This does make me unsure which side of the MPP is the worst ally, but the development surely makes a huge change in the international balance. Romania is a founding member of EDEN, and Serbia a founder of ONE/TWO/THREE (coming next winter), and though this has more ramifications for EDEN it is certainly something quite interesting to all parties involved. In fact, Spain had quite a few thoughts on this. For those of you who have trouble reading Spanish, its something along the lines of "we fired our MoFA for not telling us about this and we don't like it." I would think that taking a big step like Serbia has would require giving full knowledge to the alliance they are currently leading, but given Serbia's diplomatic policy of simply PTOing or invading countries they disagree with, this might be too much to ask of them. Given the soap opera drama Serbia put on display with CoT before signing the MPP, it doesn't surprise me much at all.

Also as a consequence of the Serbia-Romania affair, some in the eUS have been calling for us to regain Croatia as an ally. I've personally always seen Croatia as one of the better EDEN countries and they have not been in direct conflict with CoT for quite some time. A majority of Americans still view Croatia highly and they were instrumental in ATO efforts this month. As it stands, Croatian opinion has been mixed, ranging from supporting an eUS MPP, to opposing an eUS MPP, to one that is a bit more ambiguous. It appears more of the opinion falls upon CoT than a simple MPP with us, to which I say, simply don't go the extra mile right now. An MPP with the eUS does not make you betray your current allies, nor betray your honor. An alliance between our countries does more good than harm, and we both know our real adversaries. Your country is not being occupied by CoT, and ours is not being threatened by EDEN. We wouldn't be asking you to abandon your loyal allies, we're asking you to stand against our common enemy.

Now that the big topic is out of the way, time for some quick domestic updates. The Indonesian training war is going well, but given the current threat of war, I do not predict it will last much longer than it needs to be. While we still have our NE available, having to deal with a real invasion and a training war at the same time wouldn't be too pleasant. Congress elections are coming up quick, so be sure to vote for your favorite party. While I know I should remain impartial, I know a few guys who are pretty deserving of your support. That said, there is a lot of potential rising in this country, and they are just a few of your votes away from showing it.

There's also been some discussion of Unity. I've wanted to stay out of this conversation since I left the job of Media Secretary, but I'll weigh in now. I still believe in unity. And not just the process we use, but the ability we have as a country to disagree and still come together when we know we have to. Dr. Luis and fingerguns both wrote about this, along with a piece from Joesph Dinero. While their opinions on this vary, the simple fact that all of them have been written in the same time shows that we still aren't afraid to speak our mind. I know many people, particularly those in the sixth parties or who view themselves as on the outside, have seen unity elect those they disagree with. A simple truth I would say is that this happens under regular elections as well. In fact, we've had good presidents and bad presidents before unity was even conceived. And while many think that the secret cabal runs the show, there's a lot of fresh talent moving up in the government. And this isn't because they shook the right hands or gave the right votes, it's because they decided to put in the effort to be noticed for their work. I've always wanted to see the best of this country rather than dwell on the negative. I will do all I can for the eUS, and not because I'm a Fed or because I want the glory. I do it because I believe in securing the way for the next generation that will come after me.

I'm sorry I never litter my articles with pictures, maybe one day I'll get on that.

Summer is coming, and we're on the horizon. Until next time.
