We are eSouth Africa!

Day 1,113, 12:48 Published in South Africa USA by Mashaka Kulala
My fine fellow True eSouth Africans, our war has come.

The eBrazilians have attacked Northern Cape. Only moments from now the region will fall, and a further advance shall follow. This is according to plan.

In this article I will explain the plan, and the position of its opponents. Then I will argue that such opposition is unwarranted. The sentiments that drive these loyal, True eSouth Africans are earnest and admirable. The object of the sentiments is misplaced – True eSouth Africans are not under attack, and our beloved South African lands will remain unharmed. In fighting the Brazilians we are attacking only Hungarian control.

The plan.

An agreement was reached between eBrazil and the Resistance government led by President Fhaemita Malodorous. eBrazil has departed from Phoenix and entered into a Mutual Protection Pact (MPP) with the eUSA. Brazil is to conquer all eSouth African regions, and continue occupying them until the congressional elections of 25 December. This in order to allow open citizenship, so that our various allies can send good men and women to help us vote out the Hungarian PTOers, and vote in True eSouth Africans. The end result will be akin to region-swapping, whereby Brazil will gain three of our resource-redundant regions, and the community of True eSouth Africans shall claim the rest. This is only ‘akin’ to region-swapping because the True eSouth Africans currently have no regions. In return, Brazil will receive security of possession over their new regions -- regions taken not from the True eSouth Africans, but from the Hungarian PTOers.

President Fhaemita’s press release can be found here, and here is the release from the Ministry of Security. The President asks all True eSouth Africans to join Brazil in the attack, in order to end Hungarian rule and re-establish eSA. To do so one must move out of eSA, to Brazil. Alternatively, those in Romania can still access the war by moving to Germany, which only requires a Q1 moving ticket, for which soldiers can QM the appropriate organization.

Understandably, this decision has unsettled some in the True eSouth African community. Thus the ambiguous orders from the Ministry of Defence (MoD), which has failed to give appropriate orders. Indeed, the President himself expressed sympathy with those hesitant to fight, for which reason he asked such folk to sit the battle out. It is clear, though, that we are not to fight against Brazil, as such would be to protect the control of eSouth African territories by Hungary; and, as the President noted, this would violate our agreement with Brazil.

In the above-cited article, the MoD writes:
“Normally, as the MoD, I would have explicit orders telling the citizens of this country who to fight for. Today though, I will not do that. Today I will tell you to fight for who your heart tells you to.”

Following these ‘orders’ would result in True eSouth Africans fighting against one another, and with eSAAF-supplied munitions. This is unacceptable. To not wish to fight with the Brazilians is understandable, and thus one may sit out. But to pit our soldiers against each other is an outrageous act. I hope that the Ministry of Defense, and other issuers of similarly ambiguous orders, will withdraw such articles and forum posts. This is the only responsible course of action for those among our military’s leadership who do not wish to carry out the agreement negotiated by our government.

What is a nation?

A nation is an idea, a feeling, a community. Not a name. The Resistance is eSouth Africa by any other name. This is why we elect our officials on our forum, conduct our military abroad, and maintain our institutions.

The Hungarian PTOers show up as ‘Congressmen’ and ‘President’ for ‘South Africa’ in the eRepublik interface. They control eSA’s laws, taxes, MPPs, treasury, and so on. But this is illegitimate, as we know.

That they appear under these titles, and control these resources, is tantamount to a glitch. The PTOers took these positions by using multies, an unequivocal form of cheating in violation of the game’s rules and the terms of use to which the mutli-makers bound themselves at e-birth. That features of the game could be exploited in such ways, and the results of this cheating not be reversed by the Admins, is an error in the game design.

It is we who are eSouth Africa. If they appear connected to our community, our nation, it is due only to a glitch. With eBrazil’s assistance we may perhaps correct this glitch, using honest, legitimate methods.

In not fighting on eBrazil’s side, what a soldier does is refuse to take arms against the Hungarian military on the grounds that they have the word ‘South Africa’ pinned above their forces on the image on your computer screen. But these forces are not eSouth African, and in no way does the word ‘South Africa’ on the battle screen refer to our eSouth Africa.

What of our regions? In his excellent article on our new war, and the choice it forces up us, Bobady zoo writes that “I understand that it does not feel right to watch idly as our regions fall,” before going on to advocate fighting on the side of Brazil. The point I wish to make is that our regions our not under attack. The ground will stand, unmarred, and the air and the fields and the towns will remain intact. What is being attacked is Hungarian control of our game-mechanical institutions, our lack of which has prevent our government from performing their tasks to their fullest, and has prevented the numerous benefits to all True eSouth Africans of an elected government for and by our community.

To fight with eBrazil is not to fight eSouth Africa. And no eSouth African regions will fall in this war -- they fell under control of Hungarians months ago. Hungarian power over eSouth African lands and resources is all that will fall as the war progresses.

If all goes well in the next congressional elections, we will receive six of our original nine territories, having at last wrested them from Hungarian control. Then we will have all our game-mechanical institutions and powers once more, and our community can thrive again. The remaining three regions would offer us no improvement of resources, and under the new economy rules, eSA companies are tied to eSA, not regions, and so none will be trapped in eBrazilian territory.

eBrazilian rights over the three remaining regions will not be held ad perpetuum. A whole eSouth Africa is not imminent, but yesterday it was nigh impossible. Now, it is on the horizon. In desperate need of help, we have received it from Brazil – to whom, along with all our allies and supporters, we will owe the greatest gratitude.

This war does no violence against anything that is eSouth African. Were the Brazilians to betray us and keep our territories, we would be no worse off, and perhaps improved. We, the True eSouth Africans, stand to lose nothing – no regions, resources, power, society, or self-government. Nothing but our chains.

I urge that all eSouth Africans unite in solidarity of our common goal.

On Christmas day the Hungarians will fall and be cast-out, and our nation, our True eSouth Africa, will have its Reclamation.
