We Are Better Than That

Day 605, 23:04 Published in USA Ireland by Tyler Jenkins

As war rages on and territories are lost, both sides rhetoric has intensified. When the battles began we had one side calling PEACE evil and another calling the eUSA evil. Now? I'm seeing real life hatred creep into the game. No longer is it that the eUSA evil, but rather, the USA. I just read an article that called Hungarians a number of ignorant names, and quite frankly, we should not be tolerating this.

Just last year, I was in Hungary. I found it to be a beautiful country full of friendly people. I have been lucky enough to see a lot of the world and in all my travels, and the majority of people I've met were just like those I met on that trip to Hungary...they were nice people.

One of my favorite experiences while traveling took place at a pub in Victoria Station in London. While waiting on our train, a friend of mine and myself struck up a conversation with an Irishman. Before long, we had a Frenchman, a Dutchman, a Brit, two Germans, a Lithuanian, and a Pakistani all sitting our table. Conversation soon turned to their thoughts of my home country, the USA. "We love America. We just don't like some of your governments policies" was the general consensus.

The point of that story? While we may/may not like the policies of some our leaders, we still should show respect to our fellow human beings, both in life and on this game of ours. The fact is, many Americans are good people, just as many Hungarians, Indonesians, Canadians, Brits, and others are good people.

So, while I'm all for kicking eHungary's (and all of PEACE) butt in this war, we need to remember that this is just a game and should not allow real life hatred to creep in. There's no room for ignorance here and quite frankly, we're better than allowing it in this game of ours.
