Want Better Social Benefits and True Democracy?

Day 1,161, 04:34 Published in South Africa South Africa by United Democratic Alliance

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) aims to improve the lives of ordinary eSouth Africans, giving every citizen opportunities through education and training, ensuring social justice and fairness in all aspects of eRepublik life and supporting eSouth Africans throughout the different stages and transitions of their eRepublik lives.

We are a nation-building party, calling forth the best from all eSouth Africans. We look to eSouth Africa's long-term challenges and identify the challenges of the future so as to prepare for them.

Today, eSouth Africa confronts profound challenges due to changes in the economy and threats to our nations security. The SDP is the party to navigate these great challenges. We will deliver the decisive action and long-term preparation needed to take eSouth Africa through the stormy waters of the new economy and build a productive economy that can compete in the new world. In the face of security threats from political take-overs and regional instability, the SDP will strengthen eSouth Africa's defences and increase our international engagement, in order to build a more secure future. We will confront these challenges of the future with confidence in our resilience as eSouth Africans and our collective resolve to work together towards the common good.

The SDP, as our name implies, is a "social" democratic party that believes in the unique and positive role that can be played by government in a market economy. Government can play an important role in restoring stability when financial systems are at risk, where there is market failure, and in a time of economic downturn where there is a need to support jobs and economic growth. Only governments can ensure the universal provision of quality health care, education and a social safety net; implement national security measures and plan national infrastructure needs; and implement legislation to create a legal framework for competitive markets. In these and other areas, government involvement can achieve a better outcome for all eSouth Africans.

Fairness in everything is our guiding principle, whether we are dealing with politics, access to educational opportunities and health care, our tax and welfare systems, or any other aspect of eRepublik life. The SDP believes that sustaining our commitment to fairness will best ensure that eSouth Africa meets our future challenges successfully.

One of the most important roles of government is to support eSouth Africa's citizens. We believe that the economic security of citizens is of paramount importance and that citizens can be strengthened by ensuring fair wages and universal access to first rate health services, educational opportunities, and community services.

The Future

The SDP embraces eSouth Africa's future with optimism. However difficult the circumstances eSouth Africa faces we are a resilient people that confront major challenges to our economy and our security, and that reach out to others who are in need in our community. The SDP believes that we are all in this together, and that we can emerge stronger from the challenges that we confront. We also believe that the truest measure of a society is the opportunity it provides for every person to realise his or her full potential.

We reject the pessimistic views of some who say that to be a competitive economy we must sacrifice fairness and compassion, or that our national security requires us to sacrifice basic democratic principles. These are false choices. Instead, we believe that the purpose for building a strong, competitive economy is to build a fairer society for all eSouth Africans. So too, a principled response to security threats will strengthen eSouth Africa's long-term security.

The SDP is determined to get on with the job; to confront any challenges that have been neglected; to support eSouth Africans through tough economic times; to invest in the birth and training of a new generation of eSouth Africans; to ensure fairness in all aspects of eRepublik life; to invest in nation-building infrastructure that lays a platform for future growth; to make eSouth Africa competitive, laying the foundations for long-term prosperity. We aim to build eSouth Africa as a diverse and united nation, with the foundation of our enduring values, and united with a common hope for our future.

If you would like to help us work towards a great future for eSouth Africa please join the SDP today!
