Vote with your head tomorrow. Vote for AT*

Day 623, 08:35 Published in Ireland Ireland by Aran Tal

My dear friends and countrymen,

In just a few hours the polls will open and Ireland will choose her next president in a beautiful act of democracy. This month the voting page is jammed with candidates and you will have to think carefully before you make your choice. Read our manifestos, reflect on our lives and experience then make a choice and stand by it.

Although he was my political opponent for most of my life here I was deeply saddened to read about Severin's disappearance. He was an excellent congressman, party president to both the IRP and the IUP and an insightful commentator on Irish life. While of course his absence helps my campaign, I still mourn his loss as a citizen and as a politician.

The loss of a leader can be devastating for a party, as I can say from the ISRP's own recent difficulties, but the IRP is more than just Severin and I beg all citizens to go easy on them. Lord Rhindon and Gráinne Ní Mháille are exceptional citizens and I am sure will continue to brighten Ireland every day they spend here.

My new opponent, patton, is a loyal eIrishman and while I disagree with some of his politics I know he is active and experienced. If you decide to vote for him I will not grudge you. I do wish he had been exposed to the same public appraisal as Severin and I have had over the last week, as the process hardens a candidate and gives voters a chance to see their candidate's inner workings in a unique way.

As for me, I would like to extend a hand of friendship to Pip Kelly and Ireland First. Their decision to endorse me is greatly appreciated. I am honoured to accept their backing.

Tomorrow will be a great day, and the winner has a tough job on their plate as they have a full inbox coming into the job. If that person is me, then I will tackle the challenges of the position, attempt to re-unite Ireland and return honour to the highest office in the land. If it is one of my opponents I will brief them as outgoing Minister for Defence and quietly offer my resignation should they ask for it.

Vote with your head tomorrow, think carefully, and stand by your choice. Ireland needs strong leadership now more than ever. I believe I can be that leader.

Vote Aran Tal tomorrow.

Much Love
