Vote Othere - London, July 2011

Day 1,340, 21:11 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Othere

My name is Othere Salvatore, and I am asking for your vote in the July 2011 Congressional elections for the region of London.

I would first like to thank TUP for allowing me to rejoin the party after my stint in Ireland, helping dismantle Irish from the inside. Party President Tom Fletcher has shown great faith in me allowing me to run in London, and I appreciate his support.

I have been playing eRepublik for just about two years now, with varying levels of activity. I have served in the eUK congress for two terms, and am eagerly seeking the opportunity to continue my service to the nation.

If elected I will work with my colleagues to reform the tax code in order to best fund our military, and any other schemes the government wished to execute. A well funded military is essential, if we hope to re-conquer and maintain the empire we established this past month. Beyond military, the government should be prepared to arm our citizenry for especially important battles.

Private citizens in this country have selflessly invested in the necessary companies to run a paramilitary organizations. There is a valid argument that militias are not necessary, and should be completely separated from the government. However, I propose that militias can apply for a tax-exempt status, whereby a weekly payment to reimburse militias the loss of tax costs be made by the MoF. This way, our government does not subsidize militias, but also do not penalize them for hiring extra workers to supplement their raw material production.
