v3, the military and you

The v3 military module has crash landed!

What does it mean for you? Are you an eUS or EDEN/Bro citizen interested in helping the eUS military effort? Do you have at least Nemesis (skill 9) in one military skill, or will you after the second skill migration? If so, there is a place for you in the Cavalry. Join us by filling out the Cavalry application!. The Cavalry is a great branch, with active leadership at all levels and an active base of experienced soldiers.

In v3, if you're able to spare a few minutes of your day on a regular basis to hit down the new "wall", you can join the eMilitary and make a difference. No more long battles on the map, a la v2, and the new module enables people of all timezones and schedules to have a real impact on our success against the Phoenix "mechanized" hordes.

To update anyone who hasn't fought in the last day or so, here's what we know about the new v3 module: Each "battle" consists of 15 2-hour mini-battles. The opposing sides and their allies fight it out for 2 hours, and each round has a winner. We win the battle by winning the majority (😎 of the mini-battles, and our overall progress is indicated by the crowns beneath our country name.

In case you missed the Insider, here is the image explaining the different parts of the new battle screen:

Each mini-battle has its own battle hero, the attacking units avatars scroll by as in v1, and as we attack the line on the bar moves away from our side and towards the enemy. Each fight pairs you against an enemy unit that has recently participated, and as you attack (using the fight button) you lose 10hp per fight and do damage to the enemy based on your weapon strength and skill level. Each time you defeat an enemy, you gain influence. The influence gain appears to be based on your own skill and weapon quality, and the weapon skill of your opponent. Influence is what determines both the movement of the wall (the blue and red colored bar) and the battle hero stats.

With a high weapon skill, q5 weapon and the daily allotment of food I was able to do about 10k damage (or influence) in a battle yesterday. No gold required. I suspect that gold spending will decrease dramatically in v3 - the rocket launcher booster automatically grants you the normal influence for defeating your enemy, but the influence level is still determined by your weapon and weapon skill, and all you save is the health loss (usually 10-30hp) from defeating your enemy in the normal way.

As for weapons, right now all the weapons appear to earn equal influence - but rifles are significantly cheaper than tanks and helicopters. Expect to see people switch to rifle in the 2nd migration, although normal economics should see the weapon prices equalize over time. Additionally, few high quality weapons last for more than five fights. If you plan to fight your 300hp supply in food, be prepared with a large supply of weapons in your preferred skill in order to avoid fighting barehanded.

If you couldn't participate fully in v2 because of the time demands of the military module, now is your chance to get involved! We need people in all timezones who are able to spend a few minutes on most days to check orders and hit the right wall. Spais need not apply - all recruits, including transfers, must pass a security check.
