My Fellow Australians,
It has been brought to my attention by several Australian Citizens, new ones in particular, that there is a PM being sent out to them and others by Shadow455 which is title

eRepublik Official Lottery WIN 100 GOLD
It tells people:
Join this Lottery and you will be in game for 100 gold!
http://www.erepublik.com/en/get-gold/weeklottery
When you click the link, it takes you to a FALSE PHISHING SITE and asks you to enter your Username and Password. This will give the person and whoever else he is working with access to log into your eRep accounts and do what he likes with it, including stealing your money, your gold and doing other damage.
DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT CLICK THE LINK. IF YOU GET THIS PM REPORT IT IMMEDIATELY.
Clicking the link will cause the PM to disappear using some neat little ing trick embedded in it so you can not Report it.
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY FALLEN FOR THIS THIS, DO NOT PANIC, IMMEDIATELY CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD, THIS CAN BE DONE BY DOING THE FOLLOWING
Go to "My Places" > "Profile" > "edit profile (In the top right hand side of your profile page below the main navigation bar. > Click the "Change Password" Link and change your Password.
Additional Information:
Shadow455 claims that he fell for it, but the message deleted before he could report it after figuring out that it was a fake site. He didn't report it because he didn't know how to, it has been reported by him now apparently. I'll leave to the Admins to decide if he was guilty or not or if the people that are running the site got his details, but at the present moment the PMs are coming from his account.

I got the message as well. I'm lucky to have a program that warned me about the link being a "fraudulent website." I reported the person who sent it to Admin and hope they'll handle the situation quickly.
The person signed it "Your eRepublik Team" - I'm sure Admin doesn't appreciate being misrepresented ... much as we don't by AUSTRALIAN CITIZEN Ristar, allowed to continue his malicious behavior - Is it condoned by XAVIER GRIFFITH AND THE ENTIRE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT? lol - Of course not. Do you see how silly that is, XG? Do you see how irresponsible and immature it is to try to force accusations of egregious behavior on a group when the true perpetrator is completely disconnected?
Anyway, I received the usual beginning response from Admin. I hope they'll stop what is an obvious scam of our players and I also hope we'll all learn to be very careful with clicking on anything unfamiliar. I'll be happy to provide updates on what Admin has to say.

As many will state this is a current scam going around and shadow455 was silly enough to fall for it. That is his only crime.

How easy is it for the PM to change the welcome message new players recieve? I think including a warning in the welcome message will help get the message accross sooner, hopefully before they recieve this "lottery" letter.
Shadow himself has already explained about the pm so don't try to blame him. It's not his fault.

the senate would have to approve a new citizen message so would take 24 hrs plus the time taken to write and agree on it.
Did he copy and paste that scam?
I remember a citizen from another country sending the same message to me about a week ago, I didn't click the link since it looked dodgy and reported it to admin.
Is there a chance that Shadow455 got hacked?
There is nothing in that message that casts doubt on Shadow or Crimson. (A Neutral Observer).

Most people who ran scams like this do it to one person to retrieve their info then mass PM from their account. It's hardly ever the person who sent you the message.
