Updates from the Education Committee

Day 3,031, 09:08 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by HebronGazelle

The Education Committee is back with so interesting information. We managed to interview one of the two Ministers of Education from last term, as well as get some more information on the Ambassador Scheme and the new Ministry of Education. So keep reading for all the good parts.

Interviewing Frixios of the Clyde

I managed to get a good interview with Frix (one of last term's MoEd) a few days ago about how life was going in the ministry for that month.

So what does the Ministry of Education actually do?
We 'try to' educate everyone, not just newbies, about the workings of the game, and how to make friends IRL.

What have you done this term?
We have produced an article or two, and we are discussing making a learning competition.

Could you give us some stats on the Ambassador Program? How many participated and how much did it cost?
The ambassador program was ran by Rathena Gelc, so I don't actually know the figures, but I'm the Ambassador to Greece, if only their MoFA replied...

How would you rate Rathena's CP term overall?
Rathena's CP term has seen some new ideas kicking about, which have helped to make Government a little more transparent and yet, we have made very little progress on liberation, and spent more time on pointless bureaucracy. If we were focusing on a coordinated liberation plan, not dissimilar to when we liberated ourselves from Argentina, amongst PLUTO instead of hosting a referendum on a rubbish deal. I rate 4/10

What should the next MoEd be aiming to do?
I would suggest that you help any player you can. But i feel, for some reason, I'm telling myself this advice.

Who is your favourite rapper?
My boy Kendrick or A$AP Rocky or Tyler the Creator. I just can't choose...

Why is CheetahCurtis your favourite player? Answer in 5 words or less.
He smells my bum occasionally.

The Ambassador Program

The Ambassador Program was meant to be the main project for the MoEd last term, so it came as a great surprise when I found out the MoEd was not even running it (so what do they actually do?) and it motivated me to look a bit deeper into the program.

According to statistics from Rathena Gelc (the CP) there are 5 citizens part of the ambassador program, although she was only able to name one - Kapten Johnson. He was also the only one to release a report. Frixios of the Clyde said he was an ambassador in the interview but has not done anything yet. I am still trying to find out who the ambassadors are.

The ambassador program has also had all of it's funding cut. This is the only part of the whole domestic side of the government that receives funding. With no domestic schemes given any funding in the budget this term we can expect the MoEd to not do anything significant, and we can expect the Ambassador Program to not grow. I have been told the program will receive all of it's money through donations but so far there have been no reported donations and no articles asking for donations. It is not looking good for the program.

Overall, the Ambassador Program looks to be a failure. Originally it looked like a good idea but the government has not done enough to make it work, and not enough citizens have took on the idea.

So Onto A New Term!

We have a new term, and the new Ministry of Education consists of:
Madelina de Melrose
gali2332
VoodooMike71 (although apparently not)

And what can we expect them to do? This is from the CP's manifesto:
"Last month we started the Ambassadors Programme. I want to expand that and also involve more players into the government's work by having a full mentor programme where new players would be able to have a cabinet minister as their mentor. Also, the education department will work on some new project, for example writing new tutorials and syncing existing ones into something readable and easily accessible to players."

We will wait to hear from the Ministry of Education however the ambassador program does not seem to be taking off and the other projects may not go ahead.

Overall the last Ministry of Education did not do too well, in fact they didn't do very much. We are waiting for the introduction from the new Ministry of Education and we shall wait to see what they do. Stay tuned for more from this Education Committee.

Thanks for reading,
CheetahCurtis,
