Update on Ministry of New Citizens

Day 662, 11:46 Published in Ireland Ireland by Edana Savage

I am encouraged by the progress we have made thus far. There is still much more to be done, and I am doing my best to balance my duties here with my RL duties. So here we go.

I have established an organization simply called Ministry of New Citizens. This will allow several things to occur. Continuity for the next Minister of New Citizens, a place to establish a New Citizens newspaper, and a place for people to donate whatever is needed to support our most vulnerable new citizens.

Congress has passed a new New Citizens message. This serves as a jumping off point and gives the new citizen a person to contact. The goal is to educate and connect. These are the keys in transforming a new citizen into a vital productive citizen.

Congress has also been evaluating our current immigration policies. We have been too restrictive in the past. I understand why they were put in place at the time, but times have changed. It is time for Ireland to open her arms once again to people who wish to embrace our culture and build this country. It is time to grow Ireland. We have been fortunate, but we must gain strength. The best way to do that is to grow our numbers.

I am considering strategies to help these citizens as well. They may not be new to eRepublik, but they are new to Ireland. I would respectfully suggest that we design a specific greeting for them as well and methods for integrating them into our society.

I am also developing a form that can be filled out by new citizens that will help us to connect them to programs more efficiently. It will have a tracking mechanism which will allow me to measure the effectiveness of our efforts. Since this is not my area of expertise, I am looking for someone who could design this for me. Let me know if you are intersted in the job. 🙂

And finally, I have been doing some tracking of my own. I'm still working out which measures are relevant and which are not, but I think you might find them intersting.

In 5 days:

82 new citizens have been contacted.
20 have responded back.
14 have been taken off the list due to inactivity.
7 have graduated to > level 5 but < level 10.
3 have graduated to Non Noob status at > level 10.
1 moved to brazil. (He wanted to make more money)

Dane C and Neil P have both been helping me find new citizens to add to this list.

I think as time goes on the numbers will begin to tell the tale of what our retention rates are like and whether or not our efforts are bearing fruit. If you have any suggestions on what should be tracked and how, I am open to your input.

Thank you.
