Update from a Redneck
Frodo Tea Baggins
Well first off it's been awhile since I've wrote anything but hey I've been busy and had crap to write about. I still have crap to write about but it isn't always easy to shit a rainbow.
I'll start with a congress update, why not. Nothing's happened. OK nothing isn't the right word but the main story is in other articles and up for public referendum. Congress discussion has been civil and point filled and overall far more boring than the public articles. Why even go into it farther.
Real News, Real Life.
I trimmed up the old field pine out front this week. Damn scraggly branches were snow laden and hanging low dragging on the truck roofs. Quick inspection told me getting a ladder and chainsaw would likely be dangerous as the branches would likely break and snap backwards knocking the ladder out. Safety is always an issue on any job. With that in mind I went and got the 12 gauge and loaded up with bird shot. Took me 9 shots to knock off the 8 branches I wanted, the one was rather thick and took a second cutting. Overall success without the safety hazard.
Some may know I left my job a couple months ago and was unsure of where I was headed. That's not really changed other than after moving I'm still here stable and working building a couple houses 3-5 days a week depending on the weather, cash jobs at that, gotta love them. Also waiting on a phone call to go as a millwright, got a friend on the in at that company, gotta love that also.
Best news after years of living in town I'm back where I can walk outside and take a piss where ever I feel like it. 'If I can't pee on my property, then I don't want it.'

Tree trimming with a shotgun, I love it. Nice work!

I enjoyed reading this article
^__^
safety rule 1 on any chainsaw is never saw above your head or on a tree branch for crying out loud. the reason for the above your head has to do with your position and as well the chain will be more likely to slip out possibly taking out your eye. as far as i know you need a safety harness and be level with the branch or it needs to be below you. also shotgun a bullet that ricochet can travel for a couple of miles causing damage to others your not supposed to shoot in the direction of an urban area.
You obviously know little about guns. A shotgun is basically useless after about 80 yards unless you use rifled slugs with a slug barrel. Even at that it's hard pressed to do anything beyond 200 yards. Hence around populated areas where hunting is allowed seasons are restricted to shotgun and muzzle loaders only or bows. To top it off it is literally miles to my closest neighbour.
om gosh you live miles away from persons do not become the unibomber do not become the unibomber. kidd it depends on what you load it with general rule of guns is not to shoot towards urban areas. also have you heard about a tree saw puny little kid. safe your ammo for hunting or shite. best yet get yourself a effin job you dont sound stable atm tbh. ask the manager at mcdonalds nicely for your previous job back

Remember who you're talking to, Kidd. He's the master of pointlessness and bad ideas.
You live in the right spot then. Same thing with me. You can't take a leak outside then you have too many neighbors. I use a rifle though. I take it as an issue of pride that I can hit what I aim at. Too many around here use a shotgun because they can't hit anything. But for tree trimming a shotgun is just fine.
Muzzle loaded rifles are still being used? That leaves me with one question: WHY?!
Here in this part of Maine it is lumberjack central. There are more log trucks on the road than cars. I have a neighbor who I saw cut branches off a tree over his head holding a chainsaw with one hand.
well its to do with gravity upwards your chain gravity and your saw gravity is centred towards your face., arms, or shoulders. if the chain is loose they jump back off into your face. however if they are kicked out or semi kicked out that saw chain is coming for you. if they just kickback out of your hands you likewise have a saw heading str8 for u.
i read that in the manual of our chainsaw but have seen the same tips on youtube as well have seen the chain drop off when i saw above my head. but not a very powerful chainsaw at all.
Oh I know the why and the how but I can barely lift a commercial saw over my head with two hands. He used one and cut and cut and cut. The saw never moved or kicked. He uses it everyday and it is basically an extension of his arm.
We may be neighbors, lol, that definitely sounds like us. We used birdshot to clear snow and ice that was handing over the roof.
hillbillies mechanics. well poor paddy we have 8 months of summer and 2 months of a slightly cold winter and then 2 months real winter. no snow and such crap.
I enjoyed your article. But seriously...http://tinyurl.com/ogwqekg
Shotgun sounds much more fun.
