Update from a Congress Member

Day 2,006, 05:54 Published in Ireland Pakistan by Frodo Tea Baggins

As we have recently had an update from our CP, I suppose I can chip in a view from congress as well. While I'm in no way a spokes person for the group, a personal reflection can't hurt. Such type articles I can imagine are not common here, however it can't hurt in IMO to start.

Over the years I have been in congress in both Canada and the US and this is my first time in Irish congress. In comparison I can safely say Ireland's congress is much quieter, however that's not a bad thing, it has also been very dignified. At the beginning of the month we quickly figured out our economic stance and proceeded to work out our MPP goals. While it took some time we managed to generate our list of what we wanted to see and worked easily with cabinet to generate an approval list. Now due to circumstances beyond our direct control we have had to somewhat take a holding pattern in certain areas, however we are confident these little quirks shall be worked through in time.

The second major point as SAP has pointed out is progress on a peace deal. It is not my place to go into details of the why's of it however you can be assured progress is being made or atleast attempted. It is encouraging to see, though we may not agree on long term goals (or we might we haven't really focused on it,) we have through logic and reasonable thinking had interparty agreement on short term priorities. I can easily say with myself as a member of EA, Liam Tatlock as a member of ILP and Bhane as a member of IFP as some of the vocal congress members we easily aligned our goals as to an acceptable deal and why we should accept a frame work based towards those goals.

I can't make any promises or give assurances of where this is headed, but rest assurred we are working on things in a calm manner with positive thinking and respect behind the scenes. Till next time.
