Unban Emerick/Something Odd is Happening

Day 880, 11:25 Published in USA USA by mjmnum1

I'm going to propose a completely hypothetical situation. This is a total work of fiction, with no real connection to anything in reality.

Let's say there was a massive multiplayer online social game. Let's say that in this game, you had Admin appointed moderators who monitored public content. Let's say these mods could monitor public content throughout the entire eWorld, not just in their home countries.

Now, let's divide this world in half and set it at war. Of course, we've got some community mods on both sides. Let's sprinkle in some unsavory characters, and, just by random coincidence, let's place most of those characters on one side. Just enough so that no one mod can get kicked out because enough remain to prevent such a vote.

We have our stew. Let's stir the pot by adding a character. Let's call him "the Awesome." The Awesome is verbose, uncouth, and profoundly entertaining. He rises to prominence as a thorn in the side of the opposing alliance. Consequently, he is a thorn in the side of the unsavory mods allied to this opposing alliance.

Let's turn the heat up on this stew. The Awesome comes up with a word. Let's say, Pervians. This word doesn't mean anything, but it happens to sound similar to an insult in English. Keep in mind, the members of the group the word is aimed at do not speak English, so it means absolutely nothing in their language.

The unsavory mods view this as manna from heaven, and use it as leverage to begin moving the Awesome out of the game. Let's say this effort fails, but the alliance of unsavory mods determine to continue their work. They band together, and, holding all reports against the Awesome to one day, award a massive amount of FPs in one blow.

I imagine the result would look something like that. I'm sure nothing like I've outlined could happen in Erep. I mean, that would hurt the Admin's bottom line by banning a player who keeps customers coming back, be a horrific abuse of power, and would certainly be caught by the mod oversight committee. I'm sure there's somebody watching the mods on this game because of how few abuses of power we've seen.
