Turn the Tide

"Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn."

-Harriet Beecher Stowe

Let us remember what has happened during the last few weeks. Argentina has been wiped. Greece has been wiped. Taiwan has been threatened by mighty USA. Finland and Sweden have struggled with Estonia and Latvia. Canada has lost region after region.

Never give up, people. The tide is turning...

Need proof?

In our first war in the Asgard family, we declared war on longtime enemy United Kingdom when they decided that little friendly Norway was too bothersome minding their own business. Canada couldn't sit by idly while a close friend of Asgard got wiped, so the Canadian government quickly proposed and ratified a UK NE. Many glorious victories were had in our quest to protect little Norway. We successfully took Wales and West Midlands, even helping our Norwegian brothers not only avoid a quick wipe, but exact some revenge by conquering Scotland!

While the Spaniards' declaration of war have forced us to make a strategic retreat, we have not given in to a larger force. Though Norway has lost its two regions at the beginning of the war, it has avoided full occupation, as our Russian friends have kindly released one of Norway's regions under Russian rental. Svalbarden & Jan Mayen is inaccessible by the Brits barring a Russia NE, so Norway's congress is protected 🙂

We must choose our battles wisely, especially since we deal less damage than the Spaniards. We put up decent fights in our battles against the invading Spanish Armada, but we never went all-out against the Spaniards until the front line fell back to Manitoba. Just like the Miracle at Manitoba against American forces an era ago, the Spaniards were simply baffled against the Canadian troops, as thanks to mighty tanks from all our friends around the world, we repelled Spanish troops and regained initiative. Even with full TWO support, Spain was defeated in Manitoba by the mighty Canadian army and our strong and loyal allies, most especially our Finnish and Swedish brothers in Asgard.

We may have lost the counterattack in Ontario, but we will not go down easy!

Now, we're doing alright, but it's not all about us, now is it? How are our brothers Sweden and Finland doing? Sweden has had to retreat from the inner depths of Latvia due to strong resistance from their armies, and Finland has even had to fight off an Estonian attempt to invade their fair lands. Our Asgard brothers have struggled at times to defeat their enemies. Yet the tide turns.

Even during Poland’s invasion of our Asgard brethren, they were defeated, but did not surrender. Our Finnish and Swedish friends have time and time again arisen from the brink of defeat, and have continually showed their militaristic superiority over their adversaries when they need help the most. While Finland and Sweden have rarely if ever been fully occupied, both Latvia and Estonia have been defeated countless times, and now with Asgard starting to incorporate new brothers (Canada is but the first step), it’s more than likely that our enemies will suffer longer and longer periods of occupation. Let’s see if we can wipe both at once, shall we? 🙂

One of our newest close friends, the Republic of China (also known as Taiwan), has had a pretty nice time so far, defeating our South Korean and Japanese enemies, yet generously allowing them to keep Congress. However, American troops decided it’d be kinda fun to invade their former ally, apparently to liberate their ‘new allies’. Taiwan lost its namesake island, and was forced to retreat to their colonies. America had the audacity and boldness to attack the Taiwanese people, and it seemed as if a merciless showing would have Taiwan without regions to call their own.

However, Taiwan had other things in mind. When the situation looked bleakest, and America seemed to defeat our friends in the East, Taiwan showed people better. First they retreated to Japan, then rushed through South Korea and evicted the American efforts to liberate the Korean nation. Taiwan has defeated the mighty America with both military might and with superior strategic defense! They looked down and out, but they survived and will see the light of tomorrow!

Our EDEN friends have also suffered hardship. For the first time in months, an enemy nation tried to invade China. Greece lost not only its original regions but its entire empire, and got wiped. Argentina, disgruntled, left EDEN after Chile finally defeated their long-time rival. All three nations have faced great adversity. There have been times where all these countries and more have been at its lowest point.

However, despite all the trials and tribulations, our friends live on. Greece may have lost their colonies, but they have rebirthed from the ashes and recovered their original regions back in no time flat. Argentina may have left their long-time alliance, but they have returned to the map with fervor and fury. And China? Look at the Spaniards running away with their tails between their legs, and Brazilians prepared to make a similar attempt!

There will always be lost battles and defeats, as hard as we try to avoid them. However, we will never surrender! The regions may fall, but the tide will turn, my friends! The tide will turn 🙂

Until next time, take care!
