TUP PP Election Analysis - February 2015

UPDATE: Due to lack of response from my preferred candidate, I have thrown my hat back in the ring. My quals? PP twice; current Congress (for the umpteenth time); dMin of Finance; prev Min of Education (several times); co-Director of NHS (seems like forever) and founder and Chancellor of eBrit University.

Yes, I know, I really need another job here like I need another hole in my head, but TUP needs a good, steady, qualified PP who is not affiliated with an PTO group.

So please vote for me for PP of TUP. My aim? To ensure we have many qualified candidates in the future to take my place!

Once again PP elections are upon us, and we have a large slate of candidates.
I’ve had a look at all of them. One stands out as a potential great PP. Here’s a bit of information on each.

George Hannover – level 34, Royal Navy MU. Newspaper: Jerusalem Builded Here (sic).
George has worked long and hard over the past several months to help TUP regain its status as not just the largest party, but the one with the most integrity. Yes, we suffered some while back from PTOs and some extraordinarily bad leadership, but we’ve come through that and George is well positioned to ensure TUP remains strong and honourable.

Prodigle – level 23, 7th Cavalry MU. Newspaper: People’s Scoop.
Prodigle is still in the eRep early learning stages, but shows a lot of promise for the future. And humour. At least, I hope this, taken from his/her article published two months ago:
I suppose it's time to speak of my plans for the future eh? Since my original plan of claiming autocratic power in England and re-establishing the great British Empire under a powerful dictator is no longer possible I have taken to a more realistic role. My end goal is to become president of Ireland, recapture Ireland from the Chinese and hopefully unite the UK together once again. The next few editions of my journal will be updating you on the hardships of this task and giving you a little bit of insight to how a N00B goes about doing this.

Hollenboer – level 139, Royal Navy MU. Newspaper: 7 days
Hollenboer has the experience, no doubt about that. But some while back, he was implicated in an attempt by an outside group to PTO – political take-over – TUP. Has he repented? I believe so. Am I ready to trust anyone who’s tried to PTO a political party? Not just yet. There are a bunch of threats out there to both TUP and the eUK, and we can’t take any chances.

Nikalus95 – level 20, Royal Navy MU. No newspaper.
Full points for enthusiasm, but unfortunately none for experience. Level 20 is where one is just still trying to figure out which end of the tank to point at the enemy. Yes, we were all there once, but most of us knew that we were far from ready for a major position until the backs of our ears were dry and we’d suffered through reading a slew of (usually boring) reports and spreadsheets. My advice, Nikalus? Read everything you can. Communicate with more experienced members and ask a lot of questions. It’s all about the preparation, if you want to do a reasonable job. Then start writing articles so people know what you stand for and who you are.

Stormer Barca – level 27, Royal Navy MU. No newspaper.
Another with not a whole lot of experience, and no attempt to convince anyone to vote, but with enough enthusiasm to at least find and press the “stand for office” button. Same advice applies that I gave to Nikalus.

Packpack- level 20, Royal Navy MU. No newspaper.

Amir Garcia – level 22, Royal Navy MU. No newspaper.

Leo Balzac – level 75. Dental Corps MU. Newspaper: Leo’s Lectern.
Dental Corp has an unholy habit of trying to PTO parties. For many months, mwcerebrus was their candidate to PTO TUP –the one month where he succeeded, no long-term TUP member was appointed to Congress, there was no communication, people from outside the party came in to run it. Fortunately we were able to turf him out at the end of the term and return TUP to the party faithful.

Now comes Leo, newly arrived from the party Spamicans, a party known to harbor PTOers and general troublemakers. Has Leo the best interest of TUP at heart? If he did, he’d have been here, working for TUP for the past several months at least. But he hasn’t, and doesn’t. His aim clearly is to allow Dental Corps to once again hijack the biggest party in the eUK so it can fill Congress with its minions, and heaven knows what shenanigans they’d pull at national level.

So for this dedicated TUP member, it’s a no-brainer. Vote for George Hannover. He’s got the qualifications, the experience, the ability and willingness to communicate.
