TUP August Congressional Manifesto
Every month TUP produces a single, national manifesto upon which we stand. This manifesto represents our legislative program for the coming month. Voting for TUP is not about voting blindly and hoping that your candidate will represent you based on party, it's about voting for policies.
Vote TUP on the 25th of August.
Information and Home affairs
The current MoHa is doing a great job informing citizens of current events, helping tackle wellness issues and helping raise the subscriptions to government papers. We'd like to see the MoHa maintain a level of Government to citizen communication, in order to make sure that citizens who dont use the forum or who may be confused by conflicting repoerts in the media are presented with the facts and intructions they need, and a place where they can easily find helpful information on aspects such as wellness, and instructions for military engagements, in the form of the PM's, the MoD's and the MoHa's paper. Obviously, we can help target specific groups of people to help increase circulaton of the papers from other ministries, such as the MoT and MoF.
Gifting
The Current gifting scheme works well providing an active director is put in place. At the minute, the idea of gifting communes may seem impractical due to us being in a time of war, however TUP has set up it's own commune, and hopes to see the government do the same in the future, as it is relatively cheap and efficient. With the current gifting scheme, where by lower wellness citizens are gifted when there is a battle, we would like to see the advertising part taken seriously. Previously, articles weren't released and if they were didn't get much coverage. We think that when an article is released during times of battle by the government, regardless of its content it should mention the gifting scheme towards the end, so any new citizens reading it can find the informtaion and help they need easily.
Trade
Recently a few markets have seen a number of fluctuations, why? We are at war. This means that weapons companies are selling and producing more, as is the case with a few of the industries. But this means that raw materials such as iron, are seeing a large increase in demand, and sometimes the amount available becomes low. Because of this, we would like to see trade agreements put in place with foreign companies to secure imports of the Raw Materials the UK needs, to help businesses continue to work smoothly. Alternatively, we could look into creating companies in foreign countries and exporting the goods specifically to the UK, however, unless existing companies are used the start up costs may be large, so securing agreements is favourable.

Military
We have recently seen a slight decrease in recruitment, people know to use the hub to check for orders, and that we can get them from "Grease monkey" add-on for firefox. We should further grow and expand by means of getting new recruits. Better advertisement of the armed forces and the methods used to recieve orders could help encourage more people to join.
This can be done using the citizen ads module, and by the means of frequent articles. The articles can include information on recent battles that have been won, to try and stir up interest for people to join the military. Higher ranked and strength citizens could be targetted by PM's, and be told about what wings of the military they could join.
Foreign Policy
We should be aiming to strengthen ties with PEACE countries, even in the little ways, such as using the PEACE irc, and contributing on their forums.
We should also try and make friends with neutral countries, obviously we cant police the world, but that doesnt mean we cant make a few friends. This could help secure trade deals, and maybe even encourage countries into joining PEACE, or smaller alliances associated with PEACE, a bit like the AHA.
The UK, as well as every member nation of PEACE has an equal say in the alliance. Not only that, but the UK has made an active contribution towards the war efforts in North America, which has provided our military with training and we have seen an improvement.
TUP private initiatives
Although, as mentioned, the Government establishing gifting communes at this point in time isn't ideal due to the intitial costs, it is still viable for communes to be established in the future. We currently run a gifting company for this purpose, and when the war dies down, we'd like to re-propose the establishment of the communes to the House of Commons. Essentially, people work for the company at minimum wage, but are gifted with the gifts they produce, which would help raise their productivity for the next day, so there would be more gifts. This cycle could prove effective in raising peoples wellness from even very low levels.
