Trivia, Probability and you

Day 336, 08:17 Published in USA USA by Pearlswine

This article is designed to help you maximize your trivia bonus.
Not everyone is a trivia master, and with the difficulty of many of the questions, you'll find yourself guessing alot.  Here's some guidlines to follow when completing the trivia.

Read the question and answers quickly, if you don't think you can eliminate more than 2 answers, take an educated guess immediatly.  Due to the supershot, if you can't guess before the clock reaches 15, you've already lost half of the points possible from that question.
Your instincts will serve you well for familar topics.  If something sounds like it may be right, pick it.
If you randomly guess on every question, the table below shows how often you'll get x number of questions correct.

Number Correct

Randomly guessing at every question will yield a 25% average for your trivia modifier.
Look for clues in the questions.  E.g. if a question asks what year a US president took office and you know he was elected (wasn't VP replacing an assassinated president) know that the year will have to be odd.  (or even better the mod 4 answer will be 1).
