Training Facilities, Upgrades, and the New Math

Day 1,562, 12:00 Published in USA Canada by Rigour6

If you are an ordinary plebe like myself, upgrading your basic training facility will pay for itself in 200 days of training. So just under 7 months. You should do this.

If you are the sort of person who regularly pays for training, it is very much a matter of how often you do that.

Here is the list of present training costs (i.e before Q2 upgrade):

Climbing Centre
100 trains at 0.19 = 19 gold – 5 for reaching 250 strength = 14 gold per 250 or
56 Gold per 1000 strength

Shooting Range
50 trains at 1.49 = 74.5 gold – 5 for reaching 250 strength = 69.5 gold per 250 or
278 Gold per 1000 strength

Special Forces
25 trains at 1.79 = 44.75 gold – 5 for reaching 250 strength = 39.75 gold per 250 strength or
159 Gold per 1000 strength

So, as we can see, the Climbing Centre is much cheaper way to raise strength, but of course it takes 4 times as long. So how how patient are you? In this as in all things erepublikan, gold is substitute for time. (Come to think of it, that's often true in the real world as well)

Most people shouldn't build a Shooting Range at all. Even those richer players who build one shouldn’t use it, but should just keep building and add a Special Forces facility, which is a far better return on investment.

OK, now for the new math. IF you are going to use it, the upgrade of a Special Forces facility will repay your upgrade in 100 days. However, recognize that in that 100 days, you will have spent 159 net gold on training, so it’s not really open to the casual player.

The Climbing Centre is still the better deal IF you are going to pay for training BUT an upgraded Climbing Centre will take over a year of daily use to pay for itself.

The new math after the upgrades have paid for themselves:

Climbing Centre Q2
50 trains @ 0.19 = 9.5 Gold – 5 = 4.5 per 250 or
18 net Gold per 1000 strength

Shooting Range Q2
25 trains @ 1.49 = 37.25 – 5 = 32.25 per 250 strength or
129 Gold per 1000 strength

Special Forces
12.5 trains at 1.79 = 22.375 gold – 5 for reaching 250 strength = 17.375 gold per 250 strength or
69.5 Gold per 1000 strength

Now, which you should do is very much a function of how much gold you are willing to lay out to increase your strength.

If the answer is ZERO, like it is for me, you should STILL upgrade your base facility.
It will pay for itself
in increased super soldier awards.

If the answer is “Some”, you should upgrade (and use) the base training facility and the climbing centre.
Note: It will take some 13 months of daily use for the upgrade on the climbing centre to pay itself off, so before you make that decision, count the cost.

If the answer is “Quite a bit”, you should upgrade the base facility, the Climbing Centre AND the Special Forces Centre. This assumes you have 60 gold sitting around or will acquire same but to be honest if you don’t, are you really the sort of person who is going to pay gold for strength?

While you must build a Shooting Range to acquire a Special Forces Centre, you should NEVER use it.
Even upgraded, it is a terrible deal, and the purview of those to whom cost is no object whatsoever.
