This week I'll be presenting an overview of America's top seven parties. First up: USMJ!

What is the US Marijuana Party all about?

Party president chickensguys says the party is known for promoting libertarianism and government transparency. He also said they are a serious party despite their eyebrow raising name. Most importantly, their party has a unique and fun community. They can be found on irc at #USMJ.

Last month, the USMJ party narrowly avoided a takeover attempt by Sugawara Michizane, Lord of Kyushu, an exiled Japanese nobleman currently ensconced in Switzerland. Says Sugawara "I attempted to wrest control of the party from Chickensguys (someone I'm not so much a fan of). In doing so I solicited votes from some outside-of-party contacts and in response, Chikensguys got voting assistance from other parties as well." These additional voters probably gave the active voter count an inflated value.

Official Membership: 374
Active Voters*: 297
Congressmen: 10 USMJ of 58 total

The USMJ controls 17% of congress even though they only have 11% of American voters. Only the top five parties are allowed to nominate citizens for congress elections, which is why joining a larger party is generally the best route to political success. Next up - the Amercan Military Party...
