Or, if you wanted to be sure and check it in Rankings page on eRep when you finally logged in, you could see it like this:

Today Croatia reentered top 5 countries in eRepublik by population after a long long time. What happened? Battle of Belgrade:

Battle of Belgrade [Day 1,261]

There were 39 countries involved in the battle; Croatia had 16 allies: Germany, USA, Greece, Italy, Ukraine, Norway, Australia, China, Ireland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Bulgaria, Brazil, Argentina, France, Russia. Serbia had 21 allied countries: Lithuania, United Kingdom, Turkey, Slovenia, Mexico, Estonia, Latvia, Iran, Hungary, Indonesia, Pakistan, Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Montenegro, New Zealand, Slovakia, Poland, United Arab Emirates, Peru, Spain, Sweden, South Africa.

Belgrade, Croatia. Population: 4491.

eCroatia conquered Belgrade today: Belgrade was conquered by Croatia in the war versus Serbia.

There were three other battles in the region paralelly with Belgrade battle:
battle of Oltenia in Romanian-Serbian war, battle of Šumadija in Bulgarian-Serbian war and battle of Federation of BiH in Bosnia and Herzegovina-Serbian war (and East Srpska Republic just before that). There were also Resistance Wars in Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) (to drain Bulgaria and to try to liberate it when Bulgarians are focused on other battle) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (to take advantage of hospitals in order to increase the influence by healing and fighting again in Belgrade Battle).

While the two battles mentioned earlier, the one in Serbian-Bulgarian war, and another in Romanian-Serbian war, which both started before Belgrade battle, and didn't go well for EDEN side, eCroatia had a choice: attacking Raška, which offers Aluminum, a resource which would be very useful for eCroatian weapons industry, attacking East Srpska Republic in order to protect access to Federation of BiH, or attacking Belgrade, the most expensive battle to fight in heart of eSerbia, with no obvious gains (fruits region, like in Central Montenegro, which eCroatia conquered few weeks earlier).

As Alexandr Sunbeliever III wrote (2 hours ago) in his post:
I personally do not see the point in the occupation of Belgrade. But if that makes Croatia happy - well, okay then. : 3

So, to make this clear:

As being a region with largest population, occupation of Belgrade is tactically important because it will trap many citizens of eSerbia in occupied territory and make it easier for Bulgaria and Romania to advance further to eSerbia, and also relieve eBiH to defend against Serbia. Other than that, it is not important in the long term, only on psychological level.

And if Belgrade in eCroatia really makes you happy, click on that post and vote it up! 🙂

Belgrade, also known as Biograd na Dunavu, not to be confused with Biograd na moru, is the largest city of eCroatia, and it is also ex-capital of eSerbia. (Now Sumadija is the capital of eSerbia). The city of Belgrade lies at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans.

Let's get acquainted with Belgrade a bit more. Here I bring you some famous sights of Belgrade.

This article was focused on tactical analysis of the battle. If you are interested in statistical analysis of the same battle, I would recommend to you the following article for further reading:
[Ko]smos, [šta]smos (in Serbian, but the tables and figures are clear and some Google translate can help out if you are not familiar with the language).

Although it's not April anymore (at least not in our calendar), it still is April according to Julian Calendar which is still used by national Orthodox churches, including Serbian as well. So I think this song by Zdravko Čolić, a popular singer living in Belgrade, would be suitable for this occation. So, let's hear it - April in Belgrade (Lyrics).

Faithfully yours,

Janko Fran
