Bill Galaxia Toasts Phoenix Quinn

Bill Galaxia..http://ikopal.com/nomoslabs/images/BillGalaxia100.jpg" width="100px" height="100px">..is a virtually unheard-of member of the Socialist Freedom Party whose avatar is now dying a slow death. He briefly joined the game after crash-landing on this planet following a risky escape from drunken Space Troopers, who had shanghai'd him. After getting his reactionary space propulsion drive repaired, he's now in transit to Helior, which he claims is a planet where the water tastes like honey and the beer is free. Just before leaving Earth-space, he met up with Phoenix Quinn under an overpass somewhere near Los Angeles. This is a transcript of their conversation.

PQ: Jeepers, Bill, you smell awful.
BG: It's not me. It's this foul little creature.

(Bill shows PQ a mangy-looking dog.)

PQ: Where'd you get that?
BG: He was being held captive by some earthlings. I liberated him. Do you want him? Only 125 gold.

PQ: 125 gold! You've got to be kidding me.

(Bill makes a sour face.)
BG: So you think freedom should be free?

PQ: Wut? No. But I don't have 125 gold... and I don't want another dog anyway.
BG: Another dog? So you've already captured some of them, eh? What do you do with 'em anyway? Barbecue? Or just a meat pie kinda thing? I was thinking empanadas maybe.

PQ: Shut up! We don't eat them, you idiot. They're pets.

(Bill holds the dog out at arms-length, frowning. The dog squirms and licks Bill's hand.)
BG: Pets? What do you mean, "pets"?

PQ: Pets. Pets. You, like... pet them. And take them for walks.
BG: Take them for walks? This little bugger seems perfectly capable of walking on his own.

PQ: No. Yes. Well. You put them on a leash and train them.
BG: Sounds pretty kinky to me. So they're like your slaves?

PQ: No. They're companions.

(A long silence.)
BG: Riiiigghht. Your "companion". OK. Whatever you say.
(Bill drops the dog and it crawls into his lap.)

BG: So, you crazy squirrel you, what are you up to? Still trying to save the world from exploitation and whatnot?
PQ: Yeah. Something like that.

BG: Hey! Do you have any beer?
PQ: No.

BG: Does anybody on this Zuul-forsaken planet have any beer?
PQ: No.

BG: Do you want some bread?
(Bill reaches into his knapsack and hands PQ a loaf.)

PQ: Sure. Mmmm... pretty good. Must be Q3, not that stale Q1 stuff.

BG: Bread! That's all you people eat... bread! Did you know that on other planets they eat all sorts of stuff? Vegetables, rice, fruit, potatoes. Oh! I would kill for just a potato! Yes, (Bill pats the dog on the head), on some planets they even eat meat.
PQ: Ugh. Disgusting. Well. That's nice I s'pose. But here we have bread and we like it.

(They munch on the loaves of bread for a while.)

BG: Man, I miss beer.

(They munch on the loaves of bread for a while longer.)

BG: Y'know, beer goes really well with bread.

(They munch on the loaves of bread for a while longer.)

BG: Are you sure you don't have any beer?
PQ: I'm sure.

BG: Right. OK. So tell me what's going on with you. Seems like all you folks do on this planet is fight with each other. I ran into this one dude and he was all like "USA! USA! USA!". Then when I asked him what the eff he was all hyped up about, he starts shouting "Phoenix is fail! Phoenix is fail!", so I smacked him. Nobody's gonna bad-mouth my friend and get away with it.
PQ: He wasn't talking about me. My name just happens to be Phoenix. He was talking about the alliance of Hungary, Russia, and others who are at war with the United States and EDEN. The alliance is called Phoenix. You shouldn't have slapped him.

BG: Oh.
(Bill rubs the dog's head.)

BG: So, umm. Did they name it after you?
PQ: No. It's just a coincidence.

BG: Whatever. That dude needed to be smacked anyway.
PQ: Why's that?

BG: Well, for one thing, he was annoying the crap out of me.
PQ: Oh yeah?

BG: Yeah. And he seemed kind of hysterical. I think I helped calm him down.
PQ: OK. Still. You shouldn't go around slapping people.

BG: Guess you're right. FT Spleen used to smack me all the time. Especially when he was drunk. Never did like that much.
PQ: No. I can see that.

BG: So how's it going with your newspaper?
PQ: Meh. OK. Getting a little tired of it. Maybe time to have somebody else have a go at it, or change it up a little bit. I'm thinking I don't really have time be publishing it every day. Plus I'm leaving soon to go work on the Super-Commune in e-Russia, so maybe that's a good time to take a break.

BG: Super-Commune? What's that, like a slave labor camp or something?
PQ: No! It's a way for workers to concentrate their economic power within the game. Through direct democracy and pooling our labor, we can challenge the hegemony of the capi..

BG: Oh, hey! Have you ever heard of toast?
PQ: Wut?

BG: Toast, man, Toast! You take some of that tasty bread you love so much, apply fire to it until it's all nice and crusty, then slather it with butter. Man, it is soooo good.
PQ: What's "butter"?

BG: You earthlings are hopeless.
