4/22/2012: To Fight or Not to Fight

Hello everyone! I would like to take some of my busy time to teach new players on the art of wise fighting.

Assuming each battle is important, (which is another topic to be taught at another time –use common sense) is it the most productive of your health and resources to fight in these battles? In other words, could your fighting capabilities be better used elsewhere?



YES!! Do fight in this battle. Every little bit helps. As you can see, both sides are virtually tied. And, the timer (only 19 mins) is young. As a general rule, try fighting in battles early. That way, more of your battle influence can be counted.



It would be best to hold off on this battle.. Greece is clearly winning, by far. However, do keep an eye on this battle. The battle is still in its early stages; the situation may change in the future.



At first glance, it may seem eUSA (our ally) is clearly winning. However, look again. The timer is barely 2 minutes. Especially at the first few minutes, a battle can swing back and forth many times because there are not a lot of influence points being put in. If this is an important battle, fight all you can. Make your points count. Or, if you have the time, keep an eye and check again in 10-20 minutes. You can get a generally good picture by then.



Then, there are some battles that are hard to tell. At first glance, it may seem a wise idea to support eTurkey (our ally), however, eBulgaria is winning and has won the past 7 battles. It’s obvious who the winner will be. If you are in a MU (military unit) you can try to contact a few players to make a coordinated strike to change the balance. If done correctly, eTurkey might win this battle and hope can remain alive (although it is still very weak).

Summary

Looking at when to fight is mostly common sense. The main things to look at in a battle to see if it’s worth it is the current battle status (1), the timer (2), and previous battle results (3).



As you can see, we lost that battle, but I know who wins the war.
