Time to Complain
Conrad Dietoten
Well, things have come to a point in the game where I really need to write something because I am really angry and disappointed right now.
First I'll start off with a personal problem. I am a co-owner of the company Gemsbok Gifts, managed by Strong ARM Holdings. Recently business is coming to a screeching halt because gift prices in the US have dropped so dramatically that it is almost no longer financially possible to export there and in South Africa, gifts do not even sell. Coupled with some poor decisions (made by the other owners I am assuming, if I could ever contact them...) our company is down the proverbial crapper. I have lost big in my investments in this company and now we are about to close down. FMeL
Next, I want to say something about the people here in South Africa. When I first came here several months ago I liked it here, mostly because all the people were so nice to each other. I do not have that same feeling any longer. All I see now is the media spammed with articles about "how much so-and-so sucks" and "blah-dee-blah is an authoritarian dictator". There is so much mud-slinging going on I've simply stopped reading the newspaper. I left the USA party because of how dirty the PP elections were between Ryan and Frank. Now, unfortunately, drama has erupted in the GP because Ajay Bruno joined.
I am quickly losing faith in the South Africa I thought I knew. Depending on how my business situation turns out and how much worse the name-calling gets, I may end up leaving South Africa. So for any of you that know me, just a heads up.

Have faith brother. The mudslinging is just a distraction. Even the toughest, most brilliant of officials lose their tempers to trolling every once-in-a-while. If you want to see a better eSA, talk to our leaders about attracting new workers to the country, about mentoring new citizens, talk with other business owners and see what you can do to save your company and investments. Don't give up on eSA yet. Progress is possible, but sometimes isn't for the faint of heart.
What DTM said.
I know I'm guilty of feeding the trolls. I'm sorry, and I'm gonna make a effort to keep it to a minimum.
If you check out the forums, I posted a few articles talking about the global economic contraction in the Ministry of Finance section. That might give you a better idea of what's going on.
It's all about war really.
Question: did you start the company after this World War had already started?
Conrad,
I remember when you first came to South Africa and worked for me at Hello Kitty Shiny Things PSA. I hope that we can move past this phase in our present history...
I also know of your involvement in our military and that you are a dedicated player - we can't lose you, not now.
Please stay strong.

@Enoch
Yes, the company did start up after the War started.
@Steven
Thank you for commenting Mr. President, it's an honor! I'm surprised you remember that I worked for you so long ago! I suppose now I can't really leave if the President says not to... 😉
Well a lot of companies that started after the war filled a demand that was created by the wartime consumption.
Now that consumption is slowing, and the supply will have to slow as well.
It's regrettable that it is even hitting us here, but that is capitalism.
If you think you can do better in another market, I will arrange a loan for you to get a license. Just PM me and let know.
