Time for a new approach?

Day 1,428, 04:16 Published in Egypt Egypt by Franz Kafka

Ok - I have officially had enough of this perpetual occupation.

NONE of our neighbours seem to have any interest in really seeing us be a viable country. Under extended occupation, all the countries in our region will die. No citizens can maintain their nationality for too long with unproductive businesses and no political rights - eventually they will move to other countries.

eEgypt - Under almost total occupation
eIsrael - Under total occupation
eSaudi - Under almost total occupation
eGreece - Largely under occupation

eTurkey, eCyprus, and eFYR Macedonia are on top right now - but we know that won't always be the case. So can't we break this cycle of revenge and destruction and take our wars to countries outside of our region?

Taken in the long view it is hard to see how this state of perpetual war in our lands helps ANY of our countries?

My clear understanding from this situation is that overall all the large alliances present a threat to our region.

Getting involved in fights in our region just depletes our own resources, destroys productivity, starves our populations, and eventually citizens will leave the country or the game entirely.

I propose we strike a deal between all of us. Agree an allocation of territories in our region and stick to it. Then we can pursue our alliance interests and territory aquisition desires outside of our region

Q&A

Q: Why on earth would eTurkey and eCyprus give up any of the territories that they currently posess?
A: Multiple RWs are a constant drain on resources, and require heaving military planning to monitor. Under this deal I can see eEgypt and eSaudi Arabia giving up some regions. Furthermore with several fronts at peace, eCyprus and eTurkey could focus on building vast Asian empires, far greater than what they can get from our region's limited selection of resources.

Q: But there is too much animosity between countries, they will never get on.
A: Self interest should trumph emotion. Besides, no matter how much eGreece and eFYR Macedonia fight, the in-game name of the country will never be changed - so what's the fighting supposed to achieve? eGreece and eTurkey animosity is based on an RL history that we really should get over in the eWorld.

Q: Why bother trying to protect failed countries like eSaudi Arabia and eEgypt.
A: eEgypt has a chance, maybe even eSaudi. But keeping these countries weak and unproductive makes it very diffficult to keep new citizens engaged and experienced ones leave for more productive nationalities.

Q: Have you thought about a greater regional unity? It worked for Czechoslovakia?
A: Too much rl sentiment for that to work. But yes - in theory this is another way to get people engaged. Only problem is that new citizens will still be born with their nationalities and may give up and leave before they realise they should change this - new citizen messages for erased countries could help with this.
