Through the Looking Glass

Day 239, 14:18 Published in USA USA by Archibald

Today, we have the honor of sitting down with Archibald, one of eUSA’s older and most elusive citizens.

State of Affairs: Good afternoon. Thanks for agreeing to do this.
Archibal😛 My pleasure.

SoA: You look like you haven’t aged a bit.
A: Well, thank you. It’s amazing, but I feel like I’m still getting stronger. Retirement has never felt so far away. I will say that I’m starting to feel my age. I’m not growing like I used to.

SoA: I understand you’re the son of a mill worker, and that your first job was as a simple laborer constructing cheap houses. Did you ever envision experiencing success as a businessman or political leader?
A: Honestly, no. I did not. What my story shows is that with a little effort, some patience, and a lot of luck, it’s possible to achieve many things. I also owe a ton of gratitude to the people who have helped me along the way. First, there was Nave Saikiliah, who gave me my first opportunities and encouragement. I owe the most gratitude to Benn Dover and Dishmcds, who each thought very highly of me and gave me a real chance to succeed.

SoA: The Democratic Party has been experiencing some ups and downs lately, from placing second in total mayors in the last local elections to finishing fifth in Congressional votes in the latest general elections. Do you feel the party is headed in the right direction?
A: I believe so, I really do. I’ll tell you, what I’m really excited about is that recently we’ve seen an influx of a strong core of new players. We’re a young party, but we can offer new players a chance to get involved very, very quickly.

SoA: It’s been said that you are the “BEST eUSA economic mind,” that you’ve “proved brilliance with the economy,” that you’re the “favorite to be the next president,” and that you are “THE MAN.” You’ve also been described as “irrelevant” and a “minor player” and told that “no one cares.” How do you feel about these remarks?
A: I am honored by the recognition. To be honest, I’m not sure I deserve all those compliments, especially the last one. My detractors might be closer to the truth. A reputation is dependent on the people you interact with, and I am grateful to those who think highly of me.

SoA: Time’s running short, but I’ll ask you one more question. This is something I’ve always wanted to know. What’s with the tree?
A: It’s a clue to where I’m from. I was born in Dover and have since moved to Des Moines and Austin, but it represents what I consider to be my true heritage.

SoA: Thanks for your time.
