What's Happened
VAT remains at 1%. General Managers across the eUK continue to hold a license to profit on an obscene scale from the industry of our citizens
Income Tax raised to 22%. Workers incomes hammered and undermined by the actions of our spiffing MP's.
What Should Have Happened
VAT raised on items that are in high demand in this time of all out blooming war.
Income Tax remaining static or suffering only a small increase in step with VAT rises.
Simples.

oh communism, you so silly
That's also what I believe should have happened.
Now the highest income tax in eRep, all over wars that were decided on by a very small percentage of the population, which we're now paying for; unvoluntarily by working? Ok.
I agree with this article. Another thing, why apply the same tax rate for all industry? Why not study each sector separately?
As a manager of 6 Q1 weapons company I can tell you this, there's been an increase in demands for weapons in the past 2 weeks. Q1 prices have increased about 0.25 GBP. I can of course continue to sell at the old price but that would just attract foreign buyers (who don't pay tax to the eUK) and my offer would disappear almost immediately.
The responsible thing for me to do would be to increase my workers' salary. I'm pretty sure almost every other weapon GMs won't be doing this.
The workers are paying for the war and GMs profit. How is this fair?
Increase VAT and keep current income tax!
@GLaDOS: Where is communism even mentioned? These tax changes will have very little effect on communes, which is all the communism there is in the eUK.
BombadierBeetle is in charge, he gave the order and we trust him. That'll be all, really.
If bombadierbeetle asked for your password would you give it?
No.
if i'm honest i disagree with this article, yes that is high income tax and yes i am a gm of a q1 weapons company, when the prices were low i lost money and my workers gained a large amount in wages, i won't be increasing wages as they cost a lot as it is but for christmas i got them all a nice lil present cos i'm nice 😃
No income into government coffers = no war
Simples
^ Silly man. I know it's a long time since we had a proper VAT but it can raise government income you know.
Why should workers pay for the war effort and GM's profit, profit, profit at their expense? Why can't we have progressive and fair taxation? Variable rates according to industry?
There was more than one way to raise government income. It didn't have to be in the most punitive, regressive way possible.
I do agree with you Seraosha, although I am in the MoF, I could not stop this, even if I tried, which I didn't, becuase I was acting in a film, not a big film, only small, shit one. Yeah.
I don't think I agree tbh.
