Theocrats On the Move- Destination: EDEN

Day 782, 20:09 Published in USA USA by Myles Robinson
Theocrats Departing South Korea for Spain

In the summer, as the nations of the PEACE empire descended upon the territory of the United States from every direction, many other nations faced total obliteration. Among these were Canada, Spain, South Africa, North Korea, and the Theocracy of Switzerland. The Theocrats are among the oldest, most organized, and most powerful forces in the New World, specializing in elite military combat and political take-overs. When they were ousted from Switzerland by PEACE, the Theocrats set their sights on a new nation to establish their Theocracy in: South Korea.

The Theocrats moved into the small, poor, disorganized country and took the reigns of power, causing a diaspora among those who were there before. These former South Koreans mostly settled in Japan, with others venturing to Russia, the United States, and elsewhere. In their reign, the Theocratic control of the nation was absolute. Citizenship approvals were not granted to anyone not aligned with the Theocrats, and due to stringent economic regulations, most new players would either have to move from the country or die. With the recent invasion of liberation that the United States launched in Asia, the greatest criticism from many non-aligned nations was our unwillingness to combat the Theocrats in South Korea. Essentially, to be blunt, this was a matter of picking our battles and practicality; we owed them one, and we were in no position to start a fight with the Theocrats and potentially have their tanks join the legions of Phoenix.

Now, though, everything has changed. The Theocratic Pantheon has announced that the Theocratic Nation project shall end, and the group will begin to focus once more on rebuilding their reputation for military strength. Why?

Well, to be frank, managing a nation's politics and economy is a bit of a hassle, and expensive, and the Theocrats really love fighting. They're tired with constantly fighting other PTO/liberation movements every congressional election, and trying to keep MPPs organized so that they can go fight. Thus, they want a fresh start. That want a nation that has high and valuable resource regions, a large population, and a lot of interesting battles to fight in. They want to run a few pairs of companies, not manage an entire population. They want to get themselves increased salaries so they can continue to focus on funding their war machine. They want their old reputation back.

And the nation they have chosen? Spain, a member of EDEN and second-most populated nation in the game. Spain has everything they want-- high iron, high population, and always an active battle to fight in. The Theocrats will move to Asturias, set up their companies, and start to become a force in the battles that Spain and its allies have open. This is of tremendous interest to the nations of both EDEN and Phoenix, as the extra punch that the Theocrats throw in can alter the outcome of closer battles. Though, the nations of EDEN must bear in mind that the Theocrats hold no allegiance to any other group but themselves, and that they are not doing this to help EDEN or spite Phoenix-- Russia was in the top 3 choices for their relocation. Spain just had the better set-up that they wanted. However, it should be noted that they are very sore towards Phoenix/PEACE types, just not as much as us.

As the Theocrats begin their exodus, the old players in pre-Theocratic South Korea have started to emerge from the shadows that they were cast into and are seeking to reestablish their nation. A town hall meeting was held tonight, where the agenda consists of choosing leaders, recruiting, figuring out how to stabilize the economy, taking back control of the media, and trying to start out of the line of fire in the war between EDEN and Phoenix. Theocratic congressmen are currently under orders to remain in South Korea in order to help change the tax policies and impeach the Theocratic president, and Theocrats are furthermore under orders to retain their South Korean citizenship-- though News, Inc. cannot at this time verify why that is.

Rebuilding South Korea will be difficult, and they will no doubt be under the threat of facing North Korea's fate-- Phoenix-motivated PTOs by the Russians. Governments in favor of helping to rebuild South Korea will be monitoring the situation very closely and no doubt coordinating voter movements with the returning South Koreans to help them stabilize their government.

Meanwhile, EDEN can welcome the Theocrats into its battles without needing to worry about the stains of their PTO movement or coordinating MPPs with them. They are free to fight in whatever active battles they want unless their Theocratic orders say differently, and the war in Europe (and wherever else Spain's MPPs are active) will certainly provide them with a lot of ways to fight. This may not, at first, have a dramatic affect on EDEN's overall effectiveness against Phoenix on the battlefield, but it would certainly tip the scales in close battles if the Theocrats fight in them to the alliance's favor. As said, though, EDEN better have that caveat in mind-- this does not mean the Theocrats are supporting Spain/EDEN, nor the cause of the alliance. It's a marriage of convenience, and there is no telling how long it will be convenient for the Theocrats before they decide to move elsewhere or get bored and PTO some other poor country. For now, though, it is good news for the military of EDEN. They like Spain, they don't like Phoenix, and they want to get back to fighting instead of PTOing-- good news all around.

Good luck to South Korea as they rebuild themselves after months of being held down. And welcome, Theocrats, to EDEN--- let's kick some Phoenix butt!

More information will no doubt be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
