The world’s scariest garden

Αν ταξιδέψετε περίπου 70 χιλιόμετρα από την Ρώμη, θα συναντήσετε έναν από τους πιο τρομακτικούς κήπους στον κόσμο. Βρίσκεται σε ένα κομμάτι του δάσους κοντά στην κοιλάδα όπου υπάρχει το κάστρο της διάσημης οικογένειας Orsini.

Ο Pier Francesco Orsini όταν αποφάσισε να δημιουργήσει αυτόν τον κήπο ήθελε να είναι εντελώς διαφορετικός από τους συνηθισμένους της εποχής και να μην περιέχει θρησκευτικά στοιχεία. Σίγουρα τα κατάφερε. Ο κήπος είναι όντως πολύ διαφορετικός και με τα σημερινά δεδομένα, αλλά και αρκετά τρομακτικός.

Κάνοντας μια βόλτα στον κήπο σήμερα δεν πρόκειται να βαρεθείς ούτε για λίγο γιατί ποτέ δεν ξέρεις τι είδους μνημείο-τέρας θα σε περιμένει στη γωνία.

Ο Orsini δημιούργησε αυτόν τον κήπο όταν πέθανε η γυναίκα του. Ήταν τόσο μεγάλη η στεναχώρια του, που ένιωθε ότι έπρεπε να βρει κάτι για να διώχνει την σκέψη της από το μυαλό του. Με την βοήθεια του αρχιτέκτονα Pirro Lugorio ο πιο τρομακτικός ίσως κήπος στον κόσμο έγινε πραγματικότητα.

Τα αγάλματα δεν έχουν καμία σχέση με ένα με το άλλο. Φαίνεται σαν απλά να τοποθετήθηκαν τυχαία γύρω από τον κήπο με κανένα απολύτως σχέδιο. Υπάρχουν γλυπτά που απεικονίζουν τον Πήγασο, τον Ποσειδώνα και τον Πρωτέα. Ένα είναι όμως το άγαλμα που τραβάει την προσοχή. Αυτό που δείχνει ένα ελέφαντα να συνθλίβει έναν Ρωμαίο Στρατιώτη.

If you travel roughly 70 kilometres from Rome, you will meet one of the scariest gardens in the world. It is located in a piece of forest near the valley where the famous Orsini’s family castle exists.

When Pier Francesco Orsini decided to create this garden he wanted this to be completely different from the usual gardens of that season and do not contain religious elements. He accomplished it for sure. Indeed the garden is very different also with the current data, but also is scary enough.

Making a walk in the garden today you are not going to be bored nor for little because you never know which type of monument-monster will wait for you at next corner.

Orsini created this garden when his wife died. His sorrow was so big, that he felt that he had to find something in order to turn away her thought from his brain. With the help of architect Pirro Lugorio perhaps the scariest garden in the world became reality.

The statues do not have any relation between them. They simply appear as to be placed accidentally around the garden with no absolutely drawing. There exist sculptures that portray the Pegasus, Neptune and Proteus. However the statue that pulls the attention is the one that shows an elephant crushing a Roman Soldier.
