The Welcoming Committee Gifting Exchange is now open!

Day 549, 01:30 Published in USA USA by Welcoming Committee

I'd like to announce a new project, an official Gifting Exchange run by the Welcoming Committee.

This gifting exchange will have two main functions:

1) Provide any citizen with a way to boost their wellness. If any of you reading this donates a gift to the Welcoming Committee, the Welcoming Committee will send the gift back to you, boosting your wellness. This eliminates the need for someone to find a gifting partner (though you obviously still can if you want).

UPDATE: If you send a Q2 or Q3 gift, you must send a message telling me so, otherwise I have no idea who sent which gift.

2) A free Q1 gift for new citizens and any citizen with wellness below 40 -- but only if they ask for one and funds are available to buy gifts.

I'm not asking for government funds, but I am instead asking for donations from citizens (in dollars preferably). I'm not asking for large donations, small ones will do just fine since gifts are relatively cheap. I donated 20 USD for this to start, but even a dollar or two will help this project. Those of you who want to donate heavily should do so for M*A*S*H, that program has a bigger impact and is already established.

Why free gifts?

The Welcoming Committee is supposed to make people feel welcome, and what better way to make someone feel welcome than a free gift? At the same time the gift is given, links will also be provided to the citizen, directing them to the forums, Mentoring Program and Department of Education, helping them become a more active part of the country.

How do you get a free gift?

To qualify, you must either be a new citizen or have a wellness below 40. Send a private message or friend request to the Welcoming Committee or to the chairman of the Welcoming Committee (currently, it's Ligtreb, the author of this article).

How quickly do you get the gift back?

For now, if you send the gift or request by 20:00 eRep time, you will get the gift the same day. If you send the gift or request after 20:00, efforts will still be made to get it to you the same day, but I'm not going to guarantee it. And if you want the gift faster, send a message to the Welcoming Committee chairman (currently Ligtreb).

How do gifts boost your wellness?

Receiving a Q1 gift boosts your wellness 1 point.
Receiving a Q2 gift boosts your wellness 2 points.
Receiving a Q3 gift boosts your wellness 3 points.

A citizen can receive a maximum of 10 points of wellness from gifts per day.

How did this idea happen?

Cerb, the head of the Department of Citizen Affairs, came up with the concept for this and President Scrabman said he liked the idea. Thank them for any success that happens because of this.

That's all for now. This program is still an experiment. Please provide any feedback or suggestions.

Thank you for reading,
-- ligtreb, Welcoming Committee Chairman
