Xavier Griffith Elected PM Again

Independent Xavier Griffith has easily claimed a second mandate in the May 5th elections. Having achieved good results in his term he was always a good chance but with Timeoin's withdrawal and the right's vote being split yet again he was a sure thing. This 100 vote defeat is another humiliating blow for the ANP which is still unable to have a prime minister come from their ranks. This is despite being the largest party in Australia for many months and being successful in many consecutive senate elections. However, while it may be disappointing for the ANP their chances of a having PM from are still alive. This is in stark contrast to sir_c0nstant who, while achieving the highest amount of votes ever by an ANP candidate, has missed out on his third attempt at Australia's highest office. Xavier Griffith's main policies are to work on improving Australia's budget and to avoid conflict with Indonesia.

Australia's Best Formally Recognized

This week has seen the reintroduction of the Order of Australia after a six month absence. H.Nelson and Alex Australis were both presented with the position of Commander of the Order while sir_c0nstant received an Officer of the Order medal. All of them received their medals for political services. Widdows9000, Schoft and Mack_Craft received Member of the Order medals for their services to the Australian military. Binda33 and Timeoin were also given MotO medals but there was a weak protest that they should not recieve their medals because of recent actions. The acceptance of H.Nelson and Widdows into the order makes them the first foreigners to join the Order of Australia. Congratulations to all recipients on your selection.

Biggest Battle in History
Yet again the record for the biggest battle in the history of erepublik has been broken. Over 23,000,000 damage was produced when Hungary beat back Croatia's attack on Central Hungary. This battle broke the previous record set in the Rhone-Alps between Slovenia and Poland by over 1,000,000. The battle in Western Australia three weeks ago is currently the fourth largest battle in history with 15,000,000 damage produced.

Eastern Europe Continues To Squabble

The world's greatest powers have continued to fight in Eastern Europe as well as China and Spain. After almost a fortnight of fighting France and Turkey are almost whole again and Poland has been reduced to its original six regions. However Croatia has managed to expand well beyond it's natural borders taking all of Eastern Hungary and some of Slovenia. Slovakia has also attempted to mimic Croatia and has successfully conquered parts of the Czech Republic.

The wars in China have probably been the most damaging for the Eastern European countries. Hungary has been forced to decrease iron import taxes from 99% to 1% after losing Heilongjang aka Hello Kitty. Serbia has also lost many of it's Chinese and Pakistani regions.

Business:

ERX Six Weeks On

The ERX was billed as the biggest development in the way business is done on erepublik. With 8000 and almost 1000 users already signed up it looks like it may be the case. However there are a few problems that still need to be solved before it can be considered a real money earner rather than just a hobby for the rich. Firstly, many users complain about an inability to sell shares which effects their ability to turn ERX gains into in-game gold. Other complaints include the inability to hold the companies on ERX accountable. This said ERX has already received 100s of gold in investments and has helped many companies and citizens increase their wealth.
