The V1 Fallout - A local perspective.

Day 310, 11:48 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Chrissetti

The buzz over the impeding V1 changeover is now at palpable levels, newspapes and forums alike are rife with discussions about the new industries, the new careers, the new borders, the new war system, the congress change and others.

I would like this opportunity to declare my disappointment in the admin's decision to remove the mayors, even if it's only for a limited time. Other countries might shrug with indifference at the loss of local mayors, but here in the strangely well-organised eUK we have a real need for our local government, from the NHS, to helping new players find jobs, to simply helping things keep running. Losing these valuable links to government would be a terrible loss, in particular to new players. The People's Zeteticist Party obviously can't re-write the eRepublik code, but perhaps we can still make sure that the important local positions can be filled by something else in their absence?

One suggestion has been to have delegates from relevant ministries (Health, work, etc) representing each region, or' Governors' as Bremer prefers to call them.

Another suggestion has been something closer to the RL system in the UK with congress members representing their constituencies.

My personal suggestion is to develop the existing 'councils' and form them where they don't currently exist. These councils would be elected on the eUK forums, keeping some degree of democracy in the proceedings, as well as possibly boosting membership numbers on the eUK forums.

But perhaps the correct option is something completely new and unconsidered, the People's Zeteticist Party is all about new and possibly outlandish ideas and I think it would be good to throw this open to public debate.
