The Tower of Victory (Legend of Korea)

Day 1,151, 23:48 Published in South Korea South Korea by William Choi

Today is the 236th day after the end of the Second Japan-South Korea War.

After 7 months of construction, The Tower of Victory has now been completed, in memory of soldiers and citizens who fought bravely to defend their country. Earlier today, on Jan14, at 10:00am erepublik time, in Chungcheong-nam do, one of the last regions liberated from Imperial Japan, Congressman William Choi pronounced the official opening of the tower and paid tribute to war heroes.

'It is indeed a memorable day for veterans like us, to remember the old days when we joined our hands and fought together against the Japanese invaders. Some of us were lucky enough to survive and tell our stories but many of us had lost our lives; We all have lost our families and friends.
Yet, no matter they survive or not, their honor will pass on as a legacy from generations to generations.' Congressman William Choi said.

In front of The Tower of Victory, a monument is erected to tell visitors about the Second Japan-South Korea war, such as how the war started, how the President and MoD left the people, how Joseph Orair, the MoH, organised militia and how eSK won the war with the help of her allies.

In the atrium of the tower, there is a wall carved with names of war heroes, both dead or alive:

Joseph Orair (27/11/2009 - Nov 2010)

The Minister of Health of South Korea. During the war, President Peter de LusionisT Bae and Aarons Miller, the Minister of Defense, were hiding in the jungles, leaving South Koreans with no command. Joseph, as the Minister of Health, took the leader's position to distribute breads to Korean fighters, organise and coordinate the fights.

In the battle to reclaim Chungcheong-nam do, he took a bullet for William Choi and suffered a bad injury. After the war in June 2010, Joseph ran for presidency at the hospital and lost the
election by only 2 votes. Soon after that, failed recovery took Joseph's e-life.

Wladimir Rascian (1/11/2009 - present)

A freefighter for South Korea. Orginally being a Czech living in Florida, USA, Wladimir Rascian came to South Korea during the war and fought alongside South Korea. Wladimir's herioc and noble decision to help South Korea deeply touched the Korean population, and raised the morale of the malitia.

He suffered minor injury and temporary deafness when a Japanese grenade exploded beside him, but was soon recovered in a Q5 hospital in Gyeonggi-do. After the war, Wladimir became a South Korean citizen and contributed to the society by taking various positions in the government, including Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Arjay Phoenician (29/5/2009 - present)

Arjay employed Grain of Sand yet again to bring the news of impending invasion to the world. Through Grain, offers from private citizens and small militias started coming through, and though he had no authority to deliver orders or even welcome their offers, he started them in motion. His hope was to prove a small country could be defended from invasion, without that country running into the arms of one superalliance or the other. Either entirely or partly due to Arjay's actions, offers to assist started coming in from places like Austria, the Czech Republic, Chile, and the United States. (from his Arjay's page)

When being asked why his name was absent on the wall,
William Choi replied 'I am not a war hero. But I have fought with them.'

At the end of the opening ceremony, William Choi emphasized that 'The Tower of Victory is purely built to spread the message of peace and pass on the legend of those who defended eSK to their last breath.'

He believes the tower will not affect the current relationship between eSK and eJapan and stresses that eSK and eJapan should always remain peace and friendly to prevent history from repeating itself.

The Tower of Victory is open to the public every day except on Wednesdays, for maintenance purpose.
