Welcome to the third edition of the Top 10 Most Influential Canadians. Six months has passed since the previous list was established and Canada has gone through massive changes. For one, the commonly dubbed 'Third World War' was both an identity destroying and identity defining event for the country. Over the course of the past six months new players were pushed to the forefront and showed us just how dedicated and talented they really were, while veterans of public life maintained their status amongst our brightest luminaries.

For those new to this publication the previous two editions can be found here and here. The intention of the list is to provide readers with talking points on who they believe are the most influential members of our community. Individuals were considered for their presence in the public eye, their fame (or infamy), their contributions to business, media or the common good. Those that made the list did so because more often then not their voices and actions influence people and events. Whether for good or bad, once these people enter the debate the tone and direction changes.

This is a list of contemporary Canadians and is of course subject to the bias of the author.

The third edition of the most influential Canadians was the most challenging to compose. For one thing so much time had passed between instalments that it was thought the list would be completely different and bear nor resemblance to the previous ones. Somehow some names always manage to survive the test of time.

10. Ayeshan Dakseus
It would be difficult to ignore the leader of Canada's biggest political party. His re-election with a strong plurality of votes, a first for the Democratic Action League (DAL), makes him impossible to overlook. While rather unassuming in the Canadian media he is obviously well liked and well respected. Since the biggest party often sets the political agenda, Ayeshan Dakseus earns a spot in the top 10.

9. Gaius Julius Caesar00
It may sometimes appear like GJC00 has never seen a status quo he didn’t want to question. Because of this he has cultivated some rather pointed opinions that may not always be popular... although his success at the polls in the Congressional election would put that theory to the test. He is a hard worker and dedicated member of government.

8. Scorpius
He has been in opposition... he has been in government... he has served in cabinet and been a critic at large. These days Scorpius has made his home in Canada's Writers Guild, due in large part to his revamped newspaper and original political commentary. The latest feather in his cap has been his promotion to mouthpiece for Eden. It seems that no matter how the tides change, he is never far removed from the halls of power.

7. Taiwan Panda
A shameless self-promoter, Taiwan Panda has made his reputation has a purveyor of goods at affordable prices. Many citizens swore by his weapons during the Great War. Nowadays he has branched out, offering even more products and even provided free gear to younger Canadians. Arguably the business community's hardest working member.

6. Bruck
The North American wars was a chance for Bruck to wear his generalissimo hat once again. As the founder of Bruck's Canucks he created quite a stir. Regardless of the stated goals and aims of the group it was perceived as anti-government and un-Canadian, accusations which proved unfounded. His recent creation of the Canadian Advancement Party (CAP) marks a return to grassroots party building for Bruck and will be a big test of his influence and ability to attract talented Canadians.

5. Jacobi
After having held the reigns of power for so long, would Jacobi be capable of accepting his diminished role in Canadian affairs? The answer is that the former President appears to have made the transition effortlessly. The past month has seen The Merchantman publish some of its best articles and as one of Canada's media moguls it has a following that most would (should) be envious of. The October Congress election had Jacobi secure one of Quebec seats and so he returns to his roots.

4. Citizen B
He is a multi-term holder of the powerful Industries portfolio for the government. If not the founder, he is the spiritual father of the DAL's grassroots organization and mobilization. He is one of the most effective organizers and the most popular Congressman in Canada this day with over twice the total of votes of his nearest competition.

3. Tyler F Durden
Some individuals see that something needs to be done and proceed to make it so. Tyler F Durden is one of these individuals. He is the leader of the Canadian Progressive Front, a party whose membership is not the largest but which has managed the past two Congressional elections to secure the largest proportion of seats. He is also the editor of the eCanadian Hotsheet, a very informative publication with just about every link you would ever want or need.

2. William Duncan/Derek Harland
For a couple of months they advertised themselves as a package deal and so they get co-billing at the number two spot on our list. As with any new administration, the transition to the Duncan/Harland team was not without a little blood spilled. Be that as it may however, Canada has continued to progress militarily, has continued to foster exemplary diplomatic ties with our allies and brothers in the US and is even showing signs of immerging from its recent recession. With the imminent return of Nunavut, they will be able to proudly proclaim the full unification of our great nation.

1. Banach
Although not a media mogul in terms of subscription, Banach is one of the most prolific journalists in Canada. He comments on everything, sometimes with a good dose of humour and whimsy, sometimes with the experience and wisdom of his "years" working for the betterment of the country. His interventions either in Congress or with the public at large are generally timely, often needed. Like him or not, when Banach speaks people listen or debates start. For those reasons he secures the top spot in the list of Most Influential Canadians.

And that concludes the 3rd edition, thank you loyal reader for your time and patronage.
