The sweet taste of defeat - a CP election epilogue from the Mead Hall.

Day 1,021, 15:13 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by GrendelGrendel

A quick note of congratulations to all of the other candidates in this months CP elections. It was of course a no-contest scenario but that shouldn’t detract from the best wishes offered to JamesW as he embarks on his new term in office with his own mandate.

From my perspective particular thanks must go to GGRyan for the supportive comments and also to Snowey who took in great good humour my comments about Mead Halls on his campaign posts.

Of course mine was a joke candidacy. Even to the extent that I exhorted the few readers of my threadbare articles to vote for anyone other than me.

To have received any votes at all would have been a surprise and it is no shock or disappointment that I came last.

However 14 kind souls did decide to waste their votes in support of my rather pointless campaign.

And so it is to them (some of whom I know, some I don’t) that I offer my especial and particular thanks.

‘So we lost…..’ as John Major said in his gracious concession speech during the early hours of 2nd May 1997 after Blair’s victory. A result that was as entirely predictable as my own.

But there are 14 new heroes in Heorot tonight. I have stoked the fire in the great hearth and have prepared the Mead for you all. The battle was always going to be lost but what a sweet tasting defeat.
