The State of OUR Country...
Mr aNiallator
For one of the first times in my eLife I have sat back and watched... Watching does really help sometimes, it lets you get a overview of the things going on without losing your head in the moment of arguments and the sort. It has enabled me to see what is actually happening in Ireland so I can offer my ideas to better our country. I have kept quite for most of this and I don't feel I should involve myself in the trolling but now it must be addressed.
Ireland is full of wasted intelligence... If we actually applied it to useful things rather than fighting with each other all the time we would actually achieve things.
What example are we setting the new citizens?
Will all this rubbish make them want to stay and aspire? I wouldn't be surprised if we are losing citizens by the dozer because of lack of interest or musing at the behaviors of some of the oldest citizens of eIreland.
Our neighbours are looking on laughing....
I saw a article by a certain eUK troll/e
😜resident, "Seriously, 10 articles about Brian Boru being an advisor. It's awesome."
It seems like a new low for us, were being mocked by the British... It seems that from the outside out nation is looking pettier and pettier devoting more time to arguing than actually achieving anything.
Party Politics
Lets face it most of the parties have little variation in them and little differences apart from logos and the odd policy. What astounds me is how much effort is put into partisanship between parties. The energy could be used elsewhere were it is actually useful. This energy could be used to improve our government and our dail.
Cop on guys, actually allow some work to be done...
- Your not achieving anything.
- Your making a mockery out of our country.
- Your making a mockery out of yourself.
- You are stopping our Government doing their job.
If you have any queries, I am more than happy to accept them via Personal Message.

For once you actually hit the nail on the head 😛 Spesh the last line.
Agreed.
So wot's new Niall?
Same as every other month, (only this time it's your running mate, hmmm?)
Aww come on, honey, at least be straight about it. You've always been pretty cool, told ya you should have gone for the chair yourself, didn't I?
And the carry-on from Dub in the last few articles is totally on form. Why shouldn't citz pass judgement, ask questions, give feedback? If you set yourself up as pres, you should be fit to roll with the punches if you step outta line or get uber-emo in public.
Yep it's sad, but it's hardly a revelation.
And actually it seems that newer players are now getting a view on what's been going on here, by following all the wild exchanges.
I've had loads of dialogue with some very smart newish players who will be a credit to eIreland, and are already speaking out and formulating opinions and asking questions.
Scales dropping from eyes do no-one any harm.
yo, im good
Same as every month? Not really, its normally civilized maybye with a few slight bad article here and there.
This time it has gone wayyyy to Partisanship
Ahh cmon Grainne don't tell me all this is beneficial?
Thing is I don't mind different citizens doing it, but when it is the same ones who think they are Gods gift to eIreland it
Dubhthaigh hasn't even been given a chance... It was a case of: he won, but we don't like him so lets criticise everything before its given a go.
I dislike my country being shamed to the world
We look petty
We look weak
I wouldn't be surprised if we were targeted for a PTO next
/end rant 😛
Awww, big-hug....
So rant away Niall, but as an expat let me assure you that there is NOTHING happening here that interests foreigners any more than it has ever done before.
eUK has been laughing forever, not just now....
Dish has just today upgraded his comic to trollsville cos he is so bored, (check it out for more specifics, last two articles I mean ofc)
Why the PTO fear? Channer-rash? Is it contagious today?
Honestly honey, it looks the same as it always did, just you are looking out now, not in.
Really.
Well partisan politics does lure them, but I assure you will alienate some of our citizens.
They may have been laughung forever but until now there was little to really laugh about as they were in a worse position than us...
Pto? United we stand divided we fall. Were divided, so i suspect a fall
I've been looking out before, and jeez the sh!tstorm wasn't brewing then :/
Spoken as a newbie,
I must say that the recent articles have definitely helped me get acquainted with the eIreland’s political landscape, but as a newbie’s superficial opinion this is my stance:
National squabbles and power struggles seem to disproportionately dominate the media, and the good of the country seems to be placed on the back burner. (Keep in mind that my opinion can change drastically in the coming weeks). However, underneath all the politics and drama is a country more alive and vibrant than I first expected when I joined, and, as a newbie, eIreland has definitely increased my interest in this game.
Cheers,
HarvEye
"It seems like a new low for us, were being mocked by the British."
Comeon now mate, even the ones that like us have always mocked us 😃
Dish is mega bored.... pity we couldn't inspire some kinda decent article outta him 😛
@ Harvey : welcome.... I started playing when there were some heated discussions going on and that's what got me hooked. I'm sure it'll put some people off but nice to know someone can see its entertainment value!
I know you personally have stayed out of it, but there are two sides to every argument. I've tried my best to stay out of it as well but I can't take it any longer. To be honest, I think that Dubh needs to stop pointing fingers himself if he wants others to stop as well. If we want to get anywhere with these fights we need someone to be the bigger man and just stop it. I'm sure many of the people hating on Dubh right now would not be doing it if he wasn't doing the same to them...
I think instead of writing an article telling the people to stop fighting with him, you should use your position of power to get Dubh to stop fighting with them. Dubh was right to bring his findings to the public but he took that and used the wrongs of few to blame half of our country.
For an administration calling out for unity, you(again not you personally) are pointing a good amount of fingers...
@Michael - Indeed, although there has been a serious amount of blaming and finger pointing going on it should be winding down now.
I have spoken to Dubh about it don't you worry, I decided to when i saw the severity in these articles increase. I'm hoping for this to wind down. To completely stop fighting with them would not happen, it would just lead to more articles about how he is weak and how they were right all along etc etc. A equilibrium is needed and will be dahm hard to get.
Ive been saying for a long time that the political parties here have no real distinguishing features.
They are like a IROC race....all the cars are the same...just the paint and the sponsors are different. (For the most part)
Really its just a case of My Team vs. The Other Team. This is what makes the partisanship so laughable.
Now, if there were one hard-line capitalist party, one hard-line socialist party, and one hard line...I dont know...Libertarian Party...we might have actual differences to discuss.
Either we make that happen, or, as Ive half-jokingly suggested, we abolish all parties. Then we wont be a bunch of teams fighting for the same damn thing.
Agreed, Niall. I don't care if it's normal or usual for us to be mocked, it doesn't make it acceptable - and this particular, and usually rather calm - son of Ireland is getting more and more disgusted. I love this nation and it's being made to look more like sh** every day.
Partisanship really is a b****, by the way. It's all about making your gang look better than all others, and I've voiced my hatred of it since day one of my political activity. It's not about ISD vs IUP, or Labour vs IV. We're all eIrish, and if we don't work together, we're nothing.
Dammit, Dash, you posted as I was, and you made an awesome point. I'd be more than happy to abolish all party politics.
OBVIOUS TROLL IS OBVIOUS!
*enters*
We need war.
*leaves*
And what does our VP plan to do about this sorry state of affairs.
Pointing out the problem's are obvious as everyone can see them, finding solutions is the challange you must rise too 😉
@Bryan : HELL YES
Good article, I'd like to know what you really think about these calls for a state of emergency though
This article was a breath of fresh air. Thanks Niall.
These our crazy times and i think any noob who is reading the newspaper would enjoy it. I would have if I was a little noobie. Whats better then reading about crazy dictators and vindictive Dails full of conspiracies to rig elections and impeach the president ?
This is grade A capital stuff.
Pass that Poitín, patton 😉
@Patton, whats better??
WAR!
War IS mo' better.
This is for Dubh:

Sean's p correct. I am bored, however, my article was pretty spot on in terms of how absolutely retarded it was to have a four day media fest over someone holding an "advisory" position.
Ireland is full of wasted intelligence...
So am I, so dont expect any miracles.
Lol tuet.... your intelligence shows thru in snappy one-liners 😉
Niall sir, you are correct
o7
<--- no longer expecting anything significant to arise from this political term.
Sad face 🙁
im new , i joined just before ireland got NI but i dont think its boring , its realli eventful , yes it looks like our country is prity unorganized and are squabbling all the time but the controversy it is creating is interesting to laugh at and gets you wanting to know the background of why is this player hated or not ?
id love to see us more organized and work better but its nothing boring
