The Sinking Of ATLANTIS: Canada's Next Steps

Day 562, 12:22 Published in Canada Canada by tylErection

ATLANTIS, formerly the most powerful organization in the world, is no more. Its demise can be attributed to a great many things, but finger pointing and scapegoating will not answer the big question: What are eCanada’s next steps?

There are two options as to eCanada’s diplomatic stance: join an alliance, or stay neutral.

I feel the obvious choice here is to join an alliance. This is the eWorld, no country or alliance will ignore you if you have something they want. eCanada is a nation with a plenitude of high-resource areas, and this does make us a target of sorts. What this does not mean, however, is that Canada needs to rush out and join the first alliance that comes knocking on her door.

The best option when it comes to alliances would be to form a new alliance with member nations that eCanada will benefit from economically and militarily. One obvious choice, and one that has been discussed by others, is for us to seek entry into PEACE. I think this is an interesting proposal, and I don’t imagine that we would have trouble gaining entry what with our larger population and our high resource regions, but I still don’t think this is the most beneficial choice.

The alliance in which I envision Canada is based mainly upon geographic location. It includes all of eCanada’s bordering nations: eUSA (naturally), eUK, eIreland, and eFrance. It also includes eSpain, a country that possesses a high-iron region. eSpain also borders eUSA, and has been Canada’s ally in ATLANTIS, making it a logical choice diplomatically. The only problem I see with this alliance would be convincing eFrance to leave PEACE. If this was not possible, I still see this alliance working out. Our borders would all be protected (save France if they chose not to join), and we would have a continued strong economic presence. I propose the name NeATO for this alliance – North eAtlantic Treaty Organization, for humour and real world parallel.

I invite anyone and everyone to speak their mind, I’d be happy to know what you think.
