There's a bit of righteous indignation about it, isn't there?
What is the CAF but an Old Boys Club -- a group of people sponsored by the government to get free toys and to get ahead of the game at the expense of EVERY SINGLE CANADIAN.
No Canadian is spared taxation, but really when you look at it, what do Canadians get back for all those nickles and dimes collected off of every scrap of food, every gift, every day worked?
Social Services? The Canadian Health Care System is extremely limited in scope. And that's it. There's nothing else.
Defense? I think we owe more to our geography than the vaunted CAF for our protection. The CAF doesn't protect us -- the fact we are not in Asia protects us.
Good Government? Our depleted and impotent Congress and string of boondoggles silences that.
I have a friend who I sponsored for the game, got him set up in one of my companies and then made the foolish move of sending him to Romania to get some experience.
He never came back.
And why should he? In Romania, you can play every single facet of this game. In eCanada, you're playing for the enjoyment of the 40 people on IRC who call the shots and bask in the work of others.
We pay $30,000 for less than one in 45 players to have their fun and travel around the world playing hero.
The question in my mind when I saw the budget was not how could our leaders have possibly screwed the pooch so much as to lose that amount of money, but why Canada can tolerate so many doing so much for so few.
The Old Boys Club don't get their toys for a month. Don't expect the other 98% of us who get nothing but taxes from an incompetent government to do much more than roll our eyes.

Now AB I am the oldest of us all. and Bruck this is not The Old Guard he is talking about but the CAF.
Actually no Jacobi, when I was General I was also a Congressmen so stayed in Canada for the most part. When we fought France I funded myself and saved supplies for those that needed them. A good call too as the CAF ran out of supplies at that time.
Either this whole giving the CAF $30,000 is beyond your time as General or the mismanagement of that amount of money is mindboggling.
How many Q5 hospitals could $30,000 buy?
what do we need q5 hospitals for? I may be wrong but the hospital is only usable after fighting in a war. So by spending the money on hospitals which we don't really need because in the event of an invasion everyone can fight from Ontario where there is a q5. By funding soldiers we build up fighting strength for our country which is far more valuable than some hospitals.
I hate to say it, but that's a typical elitist attitude. "Who cares about the hundreds of people in Alberta or B.C. that would have to move to Ontario or Quebec in order to fight in France or fight an invasion effectively."
Well, Typone, I do. And those hundreds of people who pay taxes in Canada but get shafted so 2% of the population can play with guns do.
If the choice is the 470 people in Alberta versus the 100 people in the CAF, I'll choose the 470 Albertans.
I’m sorry Jacobi, but you are wrong. It is not an elitist attitude, it is the reality of the numbers that structure the way that wars are won or lost in this game.
But since you are concerned about invasion... If Canada were ever to be invaded, the small group of highly ranked, well supplied soldiers could do more for the cause of defending the country (damage numbers) than the majority of the population, even with Q5 hospitals in every province. Just look at our average strength rating. In this game, war is an equation, and some numbers are important (rank, strength, weapon Q). It makes more sense for the government to spend money on ranking up and properly equipping the largest military that it can afford, than to build hospitals for all provinces.
Alternatively, how do you think the majority of the Canadian population would react to the government spending all that money on hospitals just to prepare for the unlikely scenario that some country would attempt to invade Canada? Do you realize that if anyone were to invade Canada, they would activate our alliances with major military powers such as Romania and the United States? Do you think that this would actually happen? Do you think that preparing for this unlikely event would be a good use of taxpayer money?
Joe.... you're proving my point.
Hospitals help when we attack, which we should be doing with much more frequency. There's only a finite amount of experience we get from 100 people doing a lot of damage, instead of thousands doing smaller damage

CAF = sign up and you're in
therefor, CAF != Old Boys' Club
Free weapons and moving tickets are available for anyone and everyone who's willing to sign up and follow orders. Hell, because of my CAF involvement I even got a couple Q3 weapons ***insert advertisment for Dominik and CAF-CO here 😉***

The CAF is not "sign up and you're in" the CAF has been limited to 100 people for months.
In fact, in the 70 days I've played, for about half of it the CAF wasn't taking any sign ups.
I'm not talking out of my ass here, Azzeriath.
It's because we have low taxes compared to most countries. Most of the time, people in CAF supply themselves like I do.
These kind of articles are what get my goat...complaining about something because you can't be a part of it....?! *sigh*
I am curious to know what s ECanadian peoples will say when Ecanada will be own by an other country because no soldiers was ready / enough qty to fight to protect our country.
Apparently I spoke too strongly. This information surprised me so I posted on the CAF forums. TTPlaya (CAF Personnel Manager) gave a very informative reply. I'm not going to copy it from the forum for defese reasons, but suffice to say that YES, applications were cut off for a while about two months ago (~70 days?).
So you're not talking out of your ass. That being said, you're still wrong: the CAF is not exclusionist. Ever since that "while" (which I sincerely doubt was 35 days!) the CAF has been eagerly accepting recruits.
Further, in my time I've seen leadership within the CAF slowly cycle through several players, including some players who have have been playing for less time than I have--and if I'm "old guard" then I'm also the queen of England.
If you want more cold-hard numbers as far as how many days of the last 70 the CAF was accepting recruits and why I would recommend PMing TTplaya.
Everyone here is forgetting the biggest benifit of using that money on Q5 hospitals and then fighting France. You've mentione😛
More EP for all Canadians
Many small attack add up in damage
The one you forget is.... it's the easiest way to improve Canadians wellness, which improves our economy.
In the short time I have played this game I have noticed one thing Canadians wellness suck (average of 50?). If a battle with France increases our average wellness to only 60, our nations productivity with incrase by 20%. Imagine if it got to 90 wellness.
You all say we need the CAF for protection, but do we need it right now? We are geographically isolated from our enemies and we have the strongest ally in the game (and others).
So the big question is, in our current situation would it not be wiser to improve our economy and then with our new found wealth focus on a strong military?

Doesn't that indicate that once Canada attacks Pays-de-la-loire and Brittany, France once each in a war, they can't attack those same places again without declaring a new war? New Wars cost 200G i believe.
If not, then we're looking at a cost of 50 G + 0.25*29 Gold (57.25 G) for Pays-de-la-Loire, and 50G + 0.25*45 Gold (61.25G )for Brittany. However, we'd also be upping the wellness by France and anyone MPP'd with France at our expense.
In the last fight with France, Canada was 1st in number of fights followed by Indonesia. So Canada got the most amount of EP. The great thing is that Indonesia will get that anyway from their war with Romania.
That leaves France and its other allies who hardy fought at this battle. Canada fought 9000 times (18000EP) France Fought 1800 times (3600EP.)
So why is it so hard to understand that Canada gaining a lot of EP and 6 of its enemies gaining lesser amounts of EP in better than Canada gaining none.
We need to fight to compete with the world
actually, those stats that you have there are from our entire war with France, not just the last battle. And also, we did 9000 fights approx. while the enemy did around 24000 fights approx. So really PEACE gains 48000 exp while we gain 18000 exp.
So really, when we are spending our gold to start a war that really benefits the enemy more than it does us, why have we been doing it in the first place?
France and its allies did 24000 fights including Indonesia. Indonesia is going to fight with Romania if they don't fight with us, so there getting the EP anyways.
For the other countries they are fighting less than half as much as us. Why do you think it hurts so much to let a few small enemy nations to gain some EP when Canada is gaining a but load.
Correct me if I am wrong, if France attacks us we don't have to defend against it MPP allies only them.
I have an idea... I noticed that in the 3 French wars with Atlantis, France has the same allies.
If Canada, USA and Spain attacked France at the same time would that not give ATLANTIS more EP than PEACE? Would that not benifit us more than Peace?
We'd probably take the territory too. But who cares about that I just want EP and wellness for Canadians.
