Day 699, 17:20 Published in USA USA by Harrison Richardson

I know Emerick attempted to and/or did something like this a while ago, but I'm going to give it another shot. It's probably been done ad infinitum, but it's worth a shot, eh?

Mandatory a😛 This article is based on a game mechanics platform. If you're interested in game mechanics, take a look at the Democratic Party.

Q: Why don't we have Q5 hospitals in every state?
A: Well, that's quite simple. First, that's going to cost tens of thousands of gold. The typical cost for a Q5 hospital runs anywhere from 250 to 300 gold. Luckily, the USA is going to have cheap infrastructure thanks to our great patriot Max McFarland, but it's still costly to place them everywhere.

but that's not why we only have two/three!

The reason is the USA practices what is best called a "fortress" system. As the largest country in the game, we have some advantages and some disadvantages. One of those advantages is that we have some mulligan room -- if we lose a battle, the world isn't ending. On the other hand, it's very hard to defend all those regions. Indonesia has 9 original regions and a Q5 hospital in each of them. That'd be nice to do, but we're not Indonesia. If we place a Q5 hospital in every region, we won't have the population megalopolis we currently have in Florida and soon to be California. During WWIII, the USA was reduced to only Florida. Why did Florida stand? Because everyone had to move there to use the Q5 hospital, the wall surpassed a million points and would have taken 2,000 gold to just start a battle and tons more to tank it down. That cost saved our nation. If you start placing Q5's around the country with the intention of creating more "fortress" states, you only bog down the true fortress. Instead of having one massive fortress, you have 5 mini fortresses.. and they all get taken over.

Q: Why are taxes so high?
A: Really, taxes aren't very high. We have toyed with various tax rates. It's been as low as 5% income to as high as either 25% or 30%. We've found anywhere from %15-%20 to be the optimal rate for revenue for the government. But why is this important? Well, our military is our biggest expenditure and as we continue to grow as a country, our military will grow accordingly. As a world power, we have a duty to smaller nations to build up our military to the point where we (and our allies) can protect them. We use income taxes because it produces the optimal revenue with the least burden on the consumer. It may seem odd, but there are tried and true methods that have been tested in over a year of game play. Back when we had 5% taxes, we couldn't even beat Mexico. Now, we stand on a level with the world powers that be. It's much nicer to be at the top, isn't it?

Q: Why shouldn't I stay in my home state?
A: Because, foo, the Q5 hospitals! Don't settle for anything less. If you need a ticket, PM me, and I'll give you one. Fighting at a Q5 hospital gives you 50 wellness when you heal, whereas anything lower gives 40, 30, 20, 10, or no wellness. It's really that simple.

Q: I just got my 5 gold from level 6, what should I do?
A: Well, I know what you shouldn't do, and that's buy a company. I personally advise buying Q1 weapons, but other good purchases would be a q1 house (pref. for less than 3 gold) or investing it in the money market or an applicable program, like a bank. Why do I advise buying Q1 weapons? Because you rank up a hell of a lot faster. I did the math (http://eusforum.com/index.php/topic,12595.msg235299.html#msg235299) and found out that using Q1 weapons as compared to barehand allows you to rank up over 2 times as fast.

Q: Why do all these old players tell me to do this and that?
A: As a player of this game for almost 18 months now, I can't pretend to imagine how overwhelmed a new player feels. When I joined the game it was quite simple; now it mirrors real life in its complexity and intrigue. That's what I like most about it but that's also what's the most daunting about it. The best reason I can describe why older players are sarcastic, rude, or short with you is that we get tired; we get tired of answering the same questions day after day. Honestly, we love that you're playing the game and I'll do anything in my power to keep you here, but even the best of us get tired of being yelled at. When I was President, I got upwards of 15 angry PM's a day (in addition to the ~20 normal in-game PM's for business) for this, that, and everything else. Don't bug the President: find a mentor. I know in the Democratic Party we have a streamlined mentor system. If you feel left out, drop me a PM, and I'll personally be your mentor.

Q: Why do you post women at the end of your articles?
A: Because they're nice to look at.
