The National Guard and You
Moishe
One of the most underrated and yet possibly most important parts of the USA Military is the USA National Guard. Wait! Give me a moment. Please.
I am not saying that the National Guard has the strongest troopers. By design their ranks are limited to the youngest, weakest, and most untrained of our Citizens.
But while many strive for inclusion in the Marines; and while most of our Citizens have served in the Army; nearly all of our Military greats starting their careers in the National Guard.
So what can the National Guard do for you as a new Citizen? It can be the start for your future circle of friends and confidants. The people you meet in the National Guard will either be people you accompany as you both grow in rank and skill or they will be your mentors - the ones that make or break your journey through eRepublik.
For the record some of the greats you read about started in the National Guar😛
Leroy Combs; our current Secretary of Defense was once my commander in the National Guard;
Symrstar; the current General of the Army was once a commander in the National Guard;
scrabman; our beloved President, did his time in the National Guard.
{Please, if you are in the National Guard or started in the National Guard, post that information in the comments! Thanks! ~mo]
If you are under Army skill level 4.0 and want to make a difference then click this link to join the National Guard. Please give them time to get to you. They are busy with many other activities for, you see, many of the National Guard commanders also serve in Congress and other important positions.

NG forever ! 😛
It must have taken FOREVER to sew that patch, Moishe!!
Good job!
I would also say, that the NG keeps you very connected at a time when the army is not the most heard from. Talk to your National Guard Commanders, we strive to help you!

I would say that the USNG is underrated by everyone not in the USNG.
I'm a Lieutenant in the Guard, and I've been watching most of my recruits transfer into other sections of the USNG following their graduation.
@Sam: They transfer because you guys do such an awesome job. I started in the Guard, became a Divisional Commander, then moved to become General of the Army.
Like the Army you lose your best when they get greater skill because the other branches want them. I urge you to stay put! We NEED you, brother! Real talk!
Let's not forget that the NG has expanded by creating the 3rd Division, to make room for the graduates who the Army currently can't take on.
I was actually thinking about writing an article about the NG's currently expanding role...hm.
Got my training in the ng!
I am in the National Guard awesome experience do it this is a run on sentence see? But seriously, the NG is full of win
National Guard is where it is at folks. We not only train you on how to be a good soldier, but how to be a good eCitizen. We help you grow with your wellness, career, and military rank.
Our training program lasts 4 weeks. During that time you are placed under an experienced Platoon Commander who will be your guide. When you graduate you have the opportunity to move on, but many of our graduates stay put. It seems that the National Guard is hard to leave!
I can honestly say that the National Guard is the best part of playing eRepublik for me. I love the people I deal with and I love helping newer players.
If your not sure you want to join up, please contact me. I would be happy to answer your questions. Thanks for the great write up Moishe.
uhhhh ACTUALLY! the NG has proven entirely worthless to me since I joined it. Not only did it take forever for them to get back to me, (I joined when I was below 4 strength, now I am almost 5 strength) they have also only sent me messages which I am forced to respond to or get "kicked out" of this imaginary army. They also promised me two Q1 weapons to fight with that I never got, I CANT FIGHT WITH APOLOGIES!!!! Honestly....if I was a congressperson, I would most definitely not support the current NG at all.
"sent me messages which I am forced to respond to or get "kicked out""

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we take all comers.
What is the current backlog in applications - ie what is the date on the applications being processed now? Roughly how many applications are outstanding? If this recruiting drive is effective, can you handle the applications? Thanks.
@ TimRugbyflanker - Yes, we do hold our recruits accountable. You do have to respond to our WEEKLY messages, or you will be removed. We do not train zombies in the National Guard. Also the weapons being issued was not done by the National Guard, but by the QMG. You should have had to fill out a form to get them, and if you did not get them then you should have contacted your platoon CO. Use the Command Ladder.
@ Gertrude - Currently there is no backlog in new recruits, so I think we can handle them. The only place there is a backlog is on those who have completed the 4 week training course and have/need to take the exam. The reason for this backlog is because no other military branch is recruiting at this moment. The NG was originally created as a training organization. Due to issues in the eArmy we are filling some of its roles, and are expanding to meet those requirements. I ask anyone who has taken the test to be patient, you will be taken care of. We do not ignore/forget our own in the NG!
@Joshua Hoss - You are misinformed if you think that there is no backlog. There must be some backlog, because I've heard nothing yet.
@ Gertrude - I just checked the form and you are on there. You applied 2 days ago. Give it some time, you will be assigned. We usually like to assign our recruits in batches to further enhance training. There is no backlog, it is normal procedure. Patience.
@Joshua - OK, so the answer is that the backlog is 'a few days'.
I will seed you all into platoons in the next few days. Be patient.
@ Gertrude - Once again, please be patient. Look at it from our end, assignments used to be done only once a week. So if you applied on Monday you had to wait until Sunday to hear back. Now assignments are done daily/bi-daily. Also, a backlog refers to not being able to get in because of too few positions, no room, etc. So once again, there is NO backlog. You should hear soon about your assignment.
@Josh & DCZip: Thanks for your efforts. A lot of times n00bs do not understand the work load you have. They think that they are all you have to worry about. Keep on rocking, brothers!!
@Moishe - My original post contained simple questions, not criticism. If we know the plain facts we can help. If we are given vague platitudes we cannot. It would have been easy to have given simple answers to the simple questions.
There is no reason for you to assume that I do not appreciate the workload - I want to know it! I want to know if there are problems! Don't project opinions or motives onto other people when you do not know those people. You will only create divisions where none exist.
Good people, good training, good leaders, and hella fun to be in,

No complaints. No interest in leaving for the Army.
eUSNG, 3rd Division, 1st Cavalry Platoon CO reporting, Mr. Vice President.
As part of the Guard's elite fighting force, I can say that we are honored to serve our country. Can't speak for the Army or Marines, but I know that we in the NG work diligently to train recruits, to direct their growth, and provide them with a link to a social structure that helps them to feel a part of the eWorld.
Thank you for your kind words, sir.
Commanding Officer 2nd Division, 4th Platoon. I can honestly say I truly enjoy my job. To quote RivasA "Good people, good training, good leaders, and hella fun to be in,JOIN THE eUSNG!!"
@Tim-If you feel like I haven't satisfactorily addressed your concerns please feel free to message me. I'm more than happy to work through them with you.
I graduated from eUSNG about a month ago. I've just reached strength 6 and I'm still here 😃.
The eUSNG does more than just train you for war. They train you to be a good soldier, and it is where I learned most of the other important things about success in eRep and also where I made most of my first friends here.

I got into the USNG during Operation French Toast, it was a great experience, fast replies. Had a great CO, Lt. Mark Kim.
It was the NG that made it possible for me to learn everything I could and transfer to the Army as an Officer, my current position.
Go Guard!
Oo-Rah!
Go Guard!
The Guard has outstanding officers. Oo-Rah!
I am very proud of the eUnited States National Guard. I have great Division Commanders, great Platoon Commanders, and great soldiers. Join our ranks! We would love to have you.

I got my start in the National Guard and have worked my way into the JCS (again for the second time). It's a great place to start and a must for all new players.

I love being a platoon commander in the USNG. It is really the best thing on eRepublik for me. Not only do I get to help people lead a sucessful military career in eRep,but I meet some great people as well.
Join the National Guard today! 🙂

I am very proud to be a Lieutenant in the USNG. The leadership has been efficient & friendly. It represents some of the best we have to offer each other in this game.
As a congressman, politics can be a lot of noise signifying nothing. The USNG is exactly the opposite: Everyone, regardless of politics, unified by quiet love of country & readiness to prove it.
I just joined and it is really a great thing. Everyone should get envolved some way or another with the military. Even if your in buisness or politics or w/e. Everyone needs to do their part in the military.
I was a NG member back in the day. Rose to SL, then eventually to General of NG, and finally CJCS before RL made me step down way back in Nov 08. Moishe was one of my most enjoyable pupils back then, and I am very proud to have watched him go from a mouthy recruit to a great leader, and finally, one of my closest erep friends. Those who are waiting to hear from the NG, be patient. It will come. The squeeky wheel does get the grease (Moishe) but these guys are doing a great job and will get to you.
@ Hari- I didnt specify, but I respond back to those messages for what? to not be included in the dispersing of weapons because our leaders use the wrong lists? reeeaaaaaally worth responding to those messages...
@joshua- I filled out the form, they used the wrong list, and even though they realized the mistake, I still haven't been provided with weapons. I can't fight or gain rank using apologies ...
The National Guard can greatly expand a player's gaming experience if you are willing to devote time to it. I play 12 - 14 hours a day, 7 days a week. I always have something to do. The National Guard provides the best player training in the Erepublik World. It is a place a player can make a useful contribution to this game.

Love this article, not to mention the NG gives you great officer oppurtunities, I mean if you ever wanna be a great military officer START HEAR, im a lieutenant and its definitely been a great experience for me. Do you really think the Army or Marines would just let you become a General or Colonol without any experience as an officer at all, I doubt it.
I tried the NG, but left. It just seemed so disorganized. I was told I would be given weapons to fight with if I filled out a form, but none came. I contacted my CO, but the response was basically "Oh." I bought weapons with my own cash anyway, so my numbers wouldn't by wimpy in comparison! It was all pretty frustrating. I decided to just work my way up to the minimum level for acceptance into the Army. I'm sure I just fell through the cracks, and I don't blame anyone. Stuff happens!
one of my mentors, Loftedraptor, is in the National Guard and that is where I met him. Also, when I served as Congressmen, I was an active duty Platoon Commander at the same time. I fought in the Mexican War and I served just like the other American's who participated. Join the National Guard. ITs a winning solution.
The NG's a great experience. Every new player should try and join it.
