The Mystery of Singapore's Missing Treasury (Relorians Part) *Added Content*
Relorian
Greetings eSingapore,
By now Tommy has broken the news I had intended to break last week but held off on waiting for the Admins to reply to the ticket I sent in and to give time for Arbryn to review what was missing. My hat is off to Tommy for beating me to press with this story. I had it all written up and saved as a .txt file on my computer but Tommy beat me to it.
I was made aware of the theft by Tommy on the day after it all happened. It might have been earlier but I was over at my Fiancee's house and did not have access to IRC there.
I was shown the tracker of the Country account and Singapore City Bank and could clearly see money was missing. I offered to change the password but was told Boe had already made sure that it could not be stolen from again.
I asked why the hell the password was not changed when it became obvious that someone was stealing. I was told Srnth wanted to consult Arbryn before he did anything.
*Added in Content*
Srnth was informed of the theft on Sunday. He claims he tried to seek out Arbryn's advice, but the first time he contacted Arbryn was the same day Tommy informed me and I contacted Arbryn. Infact, He beat me by only an hour in his attempt to seek "Advice".
This means that for several hours after being informed, He did NOTHING. He asked for advice the next day instead of locking off the bank when Informed.
Had he locked the bank down after the inital theft, the 3rd of the transactions would NOT have happened. This is extremely Unacceptable in my eyes.
* End of Added Content*
I view that as a SERIOUS mistake. Srnth had NO reason NOT to lock off the bank when he was told. He claims its cause he was on his phone on IRC... But if that was the case, He could have gotten ahold of the people who know the password and had one of us change it (I'll cover more on that a lil later in the article).
Instead Srnth took the lax attitude and decided to wait for Arbryn to get back to him about what he should do (Which I am sorry, if you have to ask what to do when someone is stealing from your country, You do NOT deserve to hold its Highest office or even a lower office)
Now, I can clear myself of this really easily. My last access of the Singapore City Bank can be verified by the admins as the day of the elections. After Srnth was elected, I sent him the Presidential Documents and deleted my local copy.
The way the previous Presidential Document was written (I re-wrote it on my own initiate because the previous one was a cluster of outdated information) it appeared as if when Boe was president things were changed over so I felt secure in not changing things. I know I could trust Boe to keep his hands out of the eSing cookie jar.
Had I been aware that the password had remained unchanged for so long, I would have changed them but from the looks of the original presidential document, most of the orgs had a .co.uk email so I was under the impression they were from Boe changing things.
For my part in not changing the password, I appologize to the nation. I was lax when I should not have been. I should have directly asked Boe if he had changed the passwords during his administration.
Now, Where do we go from here?
Well after consulting Arbryn and talking with her over the course of the week, She and I came up with a plan on how to safeguard eSingapores money that goes beyond the Singapore City Bank. I'll outline it below.
1. The SCB shall remain the bank the President has access to (It should ONLY be the president, No one else). It will be used for stuff like funding orgs and the like.
2. Arbryns Singapore Holdings Bank will be used as a Single party held Bank to contain eSingapore's Gold and Cash Printings. (This bank has been established and has held government funds as far back as when EJ pulled her unsecured and later robbed PSS, SHB functioned as a state sanctioned and contracted bank to hold legitimate Q5 donations)
3. When the SCB needs money, Arbryn will be contacted and asked for a specific amount of money or gold. She will then take note of it meaning the money is accounted for and there is a record of when it was requested and by whom it was requested.
4. The password on the SCB will be changed by every incoming president.
I feel the above is the ONLY way we can prevent a theft like this again.
I am honestly worried what eSingapore is going to become in the future. More of the Veteran players have left to take vacations after long tenures of service (Myself included) and the new crop of politicians dont seem to worried with things like Transparency or keeping the country running (i.e. Canceling Wargames). Sure there are still a few long term Vets in eSingapore trying to stem the tide and keep eSing on course, but more and more they are being drowned out in a sea of voices that have no idea how the country functions and/or what they want to happen with out thinking through the logistics.
eSing has some dark days ahead. Its had some dark days in the past but the ones I see coming with the plans some people have will all but ensure we have no real progress forward and it will start the cycle of death all over again for our nation.
Closing Thoughts:
Srnth has been nothing but a disappointment in my eyes. I as MoD no longer have faith in his ability to lead eSingapore as a nation. I will do what I see is best for the Military and the Nation until the end of his Term and if that means disagreeing with him and/or retaining the military if replaced to ensure it survives, I will do so. This country will NOT perish just because a little kid feels like playing with buttons and orgs at his own whims. This country shall not perish because of someone who willingly did nothing when we were being robbed.

I'm all for safer money and transparency. My only concern as I probably mentioned to you before of only 1 person having access to an org is if something goes wrong in rl for that person. But it's not my call.
I agree with most of what Rel said here. Some tighter security needs to be done someway, somehow. If I can help by allowing my service to safe guard extra funds that every new president realistically doesn't need anyways then so be it. At least it will be safe. An Org with 1k gold worth of assets is a tempting treat to many would be thieves, eventually one might find their way in again. If half or some other amount of our assets were in other safe Orgs, at least total loss can be prevented.
And well, Considering my past with Singapore and my personal assets, What the crap would I need Sings gold for? So I'm not gonna steal it. I'm not even using my companies and thousand or so gold I have in my own private Orgs, lol. That's why I lend Singapore use of my Q5 Weapons company so the country could use it to make profits exporting.
Anywho, I'm here to help if I can, but if its decided to be not a good idea, at least do something. Security is lax and recent happenings have proven that. Be happy it was only 160 gold stolen and not the whole Org.

>thousand or so gold I have in my own private Orgs, lol.
can I hab 6 gold
Also just to clarify, for those who are unsure of what Orgs we are referring to.
I maintain sole access to 2 Orgs that I still use exclusively on Singapore's behalf.
These Orgs are as follows.
Singapore Holdings Bank (SH😎
http://www.erepublik.com/en/organization/1978594">http://www.erepublik.com/en/organization[..]8594
Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)
http://www.erepublik.com/en/organization/1449519">http://www.erepublik.com/en/organization[..]9519
Until recently I had sole access. However, at the end of Relorians presidency I loaned my private Q5 weapon company to the Singapore government to use in profit generation. This company currently resides on SAF and I gave Relorian access at this time, as well as maintaining access myself. I offer my private company to the govt for use. But obviously I don't trust many people to just give my 500 Gold company to and Relorian is one of the few I do. So access to this will not change unless I deem it to.
All finances on the following Orgs are government funds. And will remain as such. If the country requests them for good reason, they will be returned, but otherwise the assets here are considered safeguarded reserves. Since as shown all throughout our history, everyone loves to steal our shit.

Since as shown all throughout our history, everyone loves to steal our shit.
Word.
Also I can prove my innocence. I do not care enough about eRepublik to steal. I barely remember my own password much less the one for the bank.
This situation is much more worse than we have a PTO who successfully got into something and start proposing gold stealing activities.
Atra, It's not really any worse, for instance ...
Scenario A, shit gets stolen.
Scenario B, shit gets stolen.
Scenario C, shit gets stolen.
Whats the difference? In the end if people are doing their job, and we are more secure we can do better to prevent easy loop holes for anyone with malicious intent to take advantage of. I don't care who did it in this regard. There is always someone who will do it. We must remain vigilant and preventive at all times for this exact reason.
Now in the aftermath of this particular incident, that's a whole other situation & problem to solve, if we even can. Of course and we should try. But if we continue to pay a little more preventive attention to the future this stuff doesn't have to happen where we are trying to solve a theft.
So far though people fall to the wayside every few months just to remind us that our shit gets stolen all the time!
I officially endorse the SSOS Campaign.
Stop Stealing Our Shit! +1
What did Amun and I say about srnth? We told you you gave him far too much free reign. You didn't listen and now you're paying for your mistake.
I like how you have to troll this article JP. You and Amun caused far more problems than either of you were worth and now your attempting to snub us with "I told you so's".
I could troll all your articles with the same. ePH warned us about what you and Amun would do and we foolishly took you in anyway.
What did we get for it? You ran for congress, kept the 5 gold (Something that in eSingapore is frowned upon greatly) and approved 4 people who otherwise would have been denied, then ran off to eSA.
Go gloat elsewhere. Im sure sooner or later we'll be able to publish stuff in eSA's papers saying "Told you so" about you and amun.
Actually we're doing quite well in eSouth Africa, Amun has been incredibly successful as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, he has turned it from a somewhat active Ministry with 1/3 of nations covered by embassies into a fully-functioning ministry with every nation covered and much activity and enthusiasm. Everyone likes us there a lot. Thanks for your thoughts though.
giw nycg was kist>
smh
JP I doubt everyone like you there, too many people there have seen through your facade and have already come asking questions to ePH and eSg about why you had to flee to eSA.
As for you Anthony Lorenzo (aka Elizabeth Jones)... Whens that Big thing you promised coming? Or did the fact that eSingapore's new players were informed of who you are and what you've done derail your next scheme? You can shake your head all you want (Your communications skills seem to have deteriorated to the level of a txtmsg... how sad). You are a proven thief and liar.
Really, your opinion and comments are worthless to anyone with a brain in this game.
SSOS?? Surely SSSS would sound better- Stop Stealing Singapore's Shit.
What if this was as a result of an external hacker? Can we realistically take any measures against that?
Btw. This does not mean that we should not secure it in someway till the end of srnth`s term. Even if I`m enraged by all this I have to say, that the only mistake he has done is that he did not changed the pw. It is really bad mistake, but we have to remember, that couple other CPs did that mistake also. Personally I can give him a second change - although I will keep an eye on his doings.
Well, I think impeachment would be good...coz I'd be president 😃 lol JK he scuffed up, hes only a kid, and this is only a game. Not saying I'm not angry, but, you voted for him in the elections. This is how it works.
Impeachment tbh.
@Erius: While I respect you, I disagree with your thinking that this does not need Arbryn to safeguard the funds. Its been proven several times that people will steal from this nation. So far she's the only one who's been president a total of 4 times and had every dime accounted for.
SSSS x2
I feel that some people should have control, but not much
The Pres, VP, MoT and then mby a trusted citizenbe given some way to access it but mby not
I support Relo's article
"Srnth was informed of the theft on Sunday. He claims he tried to seek out Arbryn's advice, but the first time he contacted Arbryn was the same day Tommy informed me and I contacted Arbryn. Infact, He beat me by only an hour in his attempt to seek "Advice"."
This, people, is called 'red tape'. Seeking advice can wait, you must plug it up to prevent more leaks. For example, if you get injured severely, what do you do? Sit there while waiting for a medic to come? Instead, try to stop the bleeding. In this kind of situations where money matters, no one's going to stop you from sealing the org up with a password change. The damage has been done, yes, but try to minimize it.
In my book, an honest mistake does not constitute impeachment.
Where is srnth's reply to all of this?
Beufort, his only answer is..
SSSS x2
I don't believe he was suggesting to put all of it in reserves Erius, only the unnecessary excess. You and I both know the president does not need the full treasury to function. A president that is any good can do his job with 300-400 gold max. Anything else is excess and only creates more temptation for theft from the unsavory types.
Parrington, How does a ton of money going missing constitute a mistake? A mistake would have been changing the password to "password" or perhaps making a spotty MM Placement. Losing 50 gold that could have been prevented with a simple password change is quite a bit more than a mistake.
